I would like to wipe out my computer and start over can i do that

Hi josephamy99
Yes , you can . Launch the install disc and follow instructions .
Note : back up all your data and drivers ( very important , the drivers , some hadware could not function if you don't reinstall the drivers on your new system ) .
Best regards ,

Dell 2400 desktop was working fine yesterday, but today i hit power button, only one green light is on, nothing as far as start up page, and no fan noise from tower. do i trash this damn pc or is there...

first, recover your files. download asoftech data recovery software
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Asoftech-Data-Recovery/290956907592436?sk=info

I've had to use it many times in the past but in this case you need to plug that drive into another system as an external drive or slave drive and run the software from there. It will rebuild the drive and hopefully recover the files.

After you get back your files, you can then format the drive and reinstall your system.

My hard drive is making clicking noises and will not go past loading windows screen. I assume i need a new hard drive is there a way to replace it and connect it and get the information of it?

Think this is yet another Dell design flaw. The hard drive sits in a caddy which clips into fittings within the case. At the bottom of this caddy there is a fan for blowing air up into the bottom of the drive - these cases so compact, they can not rely on the cpu fan for airflow . All good so far. However, if your environment is a bit dusty (i.e. a normal home) the fan will deposit particles onto the drive controller board. Over time this will form a solid ring of (electrically conductive) dust. One day, the controller will just short-out completely and your drive will be dead. A rather pathetic clicking noise is a symptoms of a dead controller.

The only solution for data recovery is to buy a new drive with EXACTLY the same part number, rev level etc. and swap over the controller boards. Worked fine for me.

If you have an XPS 210 and is working ok - tak some time out to pop out the drive and give it a clean with an air duster to avoid buildup.

EMachine T2778 new hard drive, restore disk aren't working, how do I format?

1st Option: Go to BIOS level and select the CD/DVD device is the first device for boot option and then insert the recovery CD/DVD to format or install OS.
2nd Option: If recovery CD/DVD got curropted and you are having the other OS CD/DVD, then try to load and format or install the OS. Also try to download the recovery image from vendor website.

Revert back for more assistance.

My DVD-RW was working fine. I got a malware virus and had to do OS recovery. data was all fine and everything worked great. I updated all drivers. There was a lot of dust in unit and caked around internal...

Now that the malware has been removed, unplug your DVD-RW completely(power & IDE cable slot) and start your machine. If you have any junk file cleaning software, run it and shut down. Reattach the DVD-RW and also update the driver too. Use a CD-DVD cleaner of a reputed brand to clean the DVD-RW drive by following the instructions of the cleaner. Enable DMA/UDMA support for this drive. Reinstall your CD/DVD Burning software if you are using one. Make sure the region is kept blank for the DVD, do not change it...........sodeep

I have tried to install service pack 3 and my computer locks up with a Stpo: C000021a { fatal system error.. What do i do now??

a Repair may fix this
if you have an installation CD not just a recovery CD?

A repair won't lose any data, other than Service Pack (if not on CD), any Windows Updates and unsigned drivers, which will need to be re-installed afterwards.
Stay offline and do a repair dnt go online without a firewall enabled. After that you install all Critical Updates next.

How to Repair
1.Boot the computer from your Windows CD.

2.When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen press [Enter] to start the Windows Setup.

Note: Do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", you Do Not want to load Recovery
Console.

3.Accept the Licence Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.

4.Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press [R] to start the repair. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.

5.Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will then continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.
if the problem continues after doing this then change the ram you are using that meana the ram should be part of the problem
i think this should solve the problem
