Re: Acer Aspire 3002 Laptop freezes
Start your laptop in safe mode. Run msconfig from Start -> Run. Click on Startup tab. Disable all items under startup tab. Restart and run your laptop in Normal mode. See if the problem remains

Seems like really hard problem, maybe something with laptop motherboard. But on other side, it can be just some virus. Try google for Eset Online test and let it scan your computer for viruses. its free. Always use good antivirus. One of best is Avast. And its free. Download it from avast.com (Home edition).
Hi, Sometimes it´s not possible to uninstall avast! the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use avast! uninstallation utility aswClear. You can download it from http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe Steps to follow for uninstalling are:
It seems that your laptop hardware is good and it seems that it is a software issue.
Boot in safe mode: When your laptop start, press the F8 key. then it will ask you which boot device to boot from, browse using the arrow keys and chose something with HDD and press ENTER and then press the F8 key again. Then you will be given a boot option and choose SAFE MODE.
While in SAFE MODE, try to uninstall your newly installed software that might be causing the laptop to hung up.
Also, click Start => Run then type: msconfig.
Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck the many programs that looks not necessary to load while windows is loading. The program like Yahoo Messenger, Skype can be opened manually so uncheck them if present.
Try re installing both, while in safe mode go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to keyboard, click '+' and right click on keyboard and select uninstall.
Re start laptop and see if it works ok.
Do the same for the mouse, but look for the line mouse and other pointing devices and uninstal and restart.
try also updating the drivers.
