Control panel went off and hence it stopped working

I bought and installed fridgidaire PLMV169DCD model 16months ago. Suddenly its control panel display went off. It came back once after I took out power and put it back but after couple of hrs it again went dead and never worked.

Mine is dead too. I have a plmv169dcd. Problem is I cannot even locate a fuse. Is it a standard (tube-shaped) fuse or what. I've looked for something like a auto fuse too, but can't find one like that either. What am i missing? I've looked on the control panel board, on the floor and walls inside the oven cavity, behind the grate, in between the door switches. Nothing. What does it look like, please??? I don't want to send the unit out for repair without at least checking the fuse...

    Thanks,

    Sue

Is it dead, meaning no display, no light when you open the door and no beeps when you press a pad on the keypad?

    Is the outlet working?

It may be the fuse, which is usually located behind the grille or on the floor of the oven behind the control panel or between the door switches.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

When checking TCOs or thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If the cavity thermostat needs to be checked or replaced you'll need to pull the oven from the wall.

You can download Frigidaire / Whirlpool installation instructions here.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

How do i remove a control panel on a fridgidaire microwave model # PLEB30M9ECE I don't SEE any way to get it off

Hello lisajwalls - Usually this type of information is not release to someone who is not a technician (or to a consumer) and it is very rare to find enough information to do it yourself. Since this is a complex unit, typically this is something that you want a certified professional to install for you to prevent any exposure to radiation, safety and liability reasons. They also usually warranty their labor just in case something else may turn out to be the root cause of your initial problem and it does work out better to your advantage. Consider contacting your manufacturer for more details on who in your area can properly install this part. (part usually have a 30 day warranty with tech). I would suggest contacting your manufacturer to provide you a listing of authorized technicians in your area whom may guide you through this process

How do I get to the control panel of my Frigidaire PLMV169DCD?

When you open the microwave door, on the right side should be two philips head screws. Unscrew those to remove plastic cover and there will be control panel behind which is secured with 4 screws.

Plmv169dcd handle fell OFF

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If you need more help with disassembly, we have similar service manuals and have uploaded them to our site here, here, and here to help you.

You will need the free Acrobat Reader to view or print them in case you don't have it already.

You most likely had a power surge and blew a fuse. First unplug the unit, then remove the top grill. There will either be one screw on top of the control pad or 2 on the left side. open the control panel and look for a fuse that has a ceramic center and replace it with a 20 amp one. You can find these at the hardware store

Hi There, I have a Frigidaire PLMV169DCD. the problem is I have the windows showing push clear to enter time, The only 2 buttons working are the fan and light. everything else is not working. I tried to...

Chances are it's the keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

If the cavity thermostat needs to be checked or replaced you'll need to pull the oven from the wall.
