    My Optoma is automatically powering down after about 10 mins. The new lamp is only 75 hours old and when I play a CD on it without the lamp it still powers down (though lasts a bit longer, maybe 20 mins.) Any suggestions? I'm no longer under warranty.

    Thanks tchag, I will try and get a new lead, the one that came with the unit is a 10amp, I think. Can I get a new one at any electronics store?

  • mightymous1 Dec 21, 2008

    same problem. shuts down after 5 mins. A friend gave it to me after using it only a couple of times so it's practically new. Not sure what to do.

    We have the same problem. Can you guys be a little more specifac as to where the lead is located, where do you buy a new one, and how do you know if it's bad. We only have about 180 hours on the bulb, so I'm thinking it's something else.

Change lead to 3amp lead, seems to have done the trick with me, i am not sure if it the step down from amp on fuse or if it was a better lead that did it.

Why won't my Optoma DV10 projector won't turn on?

On an Optoma DV10 if its not the lamp timer, then it might be a cooling fan that needs replacing. Take out the old one, and look-up its part number online. If you don't feel confident taking it apart, have a qualified person do this.

Produces sound but no picture. iv bought a new hdmi and a multi av lead an none work. there is no flashing lights or no showing signs that its not working. its clean and in good nick to. please help!

If you have already tried different cables, and you've made sure that the connections are all good, the next step to try is to let the PS# set the resolution and signal type automatically. Just do the following;

Once you have made sure that you have good cables and all connections are good then turn on the power on the unit and not the remote. Make sure that you hold down the power button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep. You may have to try it a few times until you get the beep. Your PS3 will then automatically sense the type of connection and set itself to the correct resolution.

If that doesn't work then you may have to have your PS3 diagnosed at your local PS3 shop. There are a number of issues that can cause no picture and without the right equipment and experience you can be struggling for some time before resolving the issue.

What do i do if my hdmi on my ps3 isnt working can it be fixed

The issue may be that your TV is not capable of displaying the resolution the PS3 is attempting to use. By doing the following steps the PS3 will adjust itself to your TV's native resolution.

1) Make sure your TV is on and set to HDMI input.
2) Make sure that you have your PS3 connected through the HDMI connection.
3) Power on the PS3 using the POWER switch on the unit itself, not the one on your controller. Hold down the POWER switch for 5 seconds. The PS3 will then automatically switch itself to the correct resolution.
If this doesn't work then try another HDMI cable to ensure the problem isn't the cable.

If none of the steps work then you may have an internal issue. The problem is that there are a number of issues that could be causing the HDMI connector to malfunction. Without the proper equipment and experience it will be impossible identify the cause. This would be the time to take it to your local PS3 shop and have them do a diagnostic and a quote on the cost of repair. Remember that most shops will charge you a minimum of one hour's labor to do the diagnostic.

My optoma dv10 movietime projector is making a buzzing noise. I am using a different power cord since i can't find the original cord. could this be the problem?

if the cord is too loose, you'll have arcing, but it'll sound like crackling. if the buzzing is from inside, it may be the colorwheel motor breaking down. it'll need to be replaced.

Loud Fan Noise

Review Date
Monday, 12th of September, 2005 --> What's Hot
User-friendly, built-in DVD player, high-throw ratio lens, fast power/cool down What's Not
Fan operation is quite audible, native resolution of just 480p The Final Word
A perfect coffee table companion Notes
# This product is no longer available directly from the manufacturer. It may be available in retail and distribution channels, or second hand. The price displayed is the price at review time and the last available recommended retail price.

The DV10 has a futuristic-looking outer casing and two internal speakers located behind a silver grille mesh at the rear. Heat is removed through its side ventilation and the internal fan has a noise level of 27dB, which is comparable to a loud computer and quite distracting when watching movies at low volume. At 368 x 117 x 273mm, the unit is small enough to permanently and inconspicuously reside on a coffee table.

this is from a review .

it sounds like that the fan needs to be cleaned the sound you hear is normal but if it sounds like its racein the moder might be on its way out if you have a can of air used to clean a key bored i would try to clean it out with that if not take it to a repair place to see if they could look at the moder
