Question about Video Game Consoles
If you're looking to use cheats on your ps2 then you could either use Gameshark for ps2 or (I don't know if they make it) Codebreaker for ps2. But if you're looking for the more costless way to cheating the game you try to use should have a CHEAT option somewhere in its option menu or on its main menu. If it does not have the CHEAT option then you may probably have to use one of the above 2 cheat providers (which are disks by the way, they cost money) or the game does not have any cheats.

I have also envountered problems with dogs life, my only reasonable explination is:
dogs life is most propably written on a normal CD-R,
and sometimes a chipped PS2 struggles to read CD-R games, you will also find that older PSX games wont work either, hope this is of some help.
have a blessed day.
