Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Kitchen Aid Superba KUDS24SEBS1. The inlet water pressure is good and the dishwasher fills and starts the wash cycle, however, after the initial spray of water, it seems that all of the water drains out and there is nothing left to continue the cycle and wash the dishes. It's like it's not able to fill up enough to wash the dishes.

When "full" of water, the normal height of level is about 1/2 below the heater assy(large blackish grey coil below he spray arm).. if theres enough water in the unit nad its still not "spraying",its quite possible that your filter/chopper assy is clogged and cant let water through. try removing hte spray arm and under that you will see 5 torx15 screrw holding down top filter plate under there to the left youll see another t15 screw covering hte chopper assy area. claen out sump of debris this may be your issue

Broken Timer? My OLD Kitchen Aid Quiet Scrub Dishwasher no longer advances through cycles automatically--I have to turn the knob manually for every step. It works fine other than that.

Hi Spring

All depends where you are and wether you can get Parts.
Is the timer accessible?
Timer is driven by a small clock motor.
Could it be fixed or lubricated.
Give it a service and save money!
Good luck

Brand new KitchenAid KUDE40FX door won't latch any more and thus won't start.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

Dishwasher will not fill with water

depending on the make and model of dishwasher the solution can vary. A good guess (assuming the inlet hose is connected and tap is turned on), is the water pressure setting may not be matching with your normal mains pressure. Check installation instructions for setting mains water pressure. Also some dishwashers like Bosch have special inlet hoses which detect water leakage and shut of the water inlet valve. Need to check if your dishwasher has got this feature and need to confirm the hose is correctly fitted.
More importantly check when you turn wash cycle on if you hear click of the inlet valve or not.

Kitchenaid superba dishwasher does not pump water through sprayarms. Water comes in and empties

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa,

It may be a seized wash pump, worn wash impeller or simply a plugged up pump preventing a proper wash cycle.

The place to start for that is to pull the pump filter, spray arm and check for food deposit, broken glass, undesolved detergent and general water deposit built up in the sump well.

The key is to get in there and clean it all out, I`ve attached a link at the bottom that will show you how to go about it. It may not be your model, ( Most Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air ) but it is the same procedure.

When you`re finished run it through a test cycle and see how it goes.

Let me know how you make out and what you find.

Under the machine is the water inlet valve. if you take off the front end of that you find a filter which fills up with rust, and you can clean it out. If that doesnt work, repairclinic.com will sell you a new valve for 32

My Kitchen Aid dishwasher runs for about 2 hours. Is this normal

It depends on your water pressure. Mine runs a cycle in about 25 minutes, with 92 psi water pressure. Before changing all the pipes in my house, I had about 30 psi and it took about 45 minutes. The longer it takes to fill, the longer it takes to do a wash.

Rinse arms not spinning

Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper brokeen or food chopper filter screen clogged.

Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.

Inspect food chopper:
Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover. Remove the rounded cover on the left side to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage of blockage. There may be an additional plastic screen to remove first.
