More details are needed. Do you mean your screen saver locks the computer and you need a password to unlock? If so, uncheck the password on resume in the screen saver properties.

Do you mean the system requires a password on boot? If so, then you go to the password settings in BIOS and either DISABLE the password or change the password to BLANK (Which is the same as a DIsable function)

If you mean a password at windows login, then you need to remove the password in USER Accounts in control panel.

If none of those are the answer, then post the details of your situation.

Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop, my screen was full 17" but now its like 13" viewing area? What setting changed and how do I put it back to normal viewing?

There must be a key called "fn" in your keyboard. Hold on it and press the square indicated key in the f-keys at the top. You have shrunk the screen size. This must reset it.

Loss of light on screen Dell Inspiron E1705

Hmm, this could be a problem with the backlight inverter or something as simple as power settings.

In power settings from control panel there should be an option to alter the brightness lever of the screen when on battery.

Have a look in there and set it to default to see if it makes any difference.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Regards

Nick
