I can't get my GE range to self clean, I keep getting a F91 error whenever I try to clean.

Unfortunately, the F91 error indicates that the door lock is not functioning or the signal that the door is locked didn't get to the control unit. The range will not begin the self-clean cycle if there is a chance that you could open the oven door when the oven is dangerously hot.

First try cycling the power by unplugging the range (or turning off the circuit breaker). Next check if the lock has engaged. If the lock doesn't engage, check if the mechanism is bent or binding. Next check the wiring to see there is damage that will prevent the communication between the control board or the door lock. Check for corrosion at the wiring harness connections.

If the error happened after doing a self-clean, I'd suspect the door lock hadn't released. That can be related to a damaged over-temperature sensor or the lock itself. If the range has been self-cleaned before, it's possible that the lock was broken after forcing the door to open after that self-clean cycle.

You may need to replace the lock, the wiring or the control board. Please add a comment with the model of your range for a parts diagram. If your range is under warranty, contact GE.

I hope this helps.

Locked door on my GE Profile Oven (Range)

Amazing. I've searched across the web, and this "locked door" problem appears to be a DESIGN FLAW across the entire product line: if you run the self-cleaning cycle, it WILL trigger this problem and despite the suggestion of a wide range of "self-help" strategies, the only real solution is to pay for a service call (and then, it appears, paying for a new control unit and probably an additional service call to have it installed, and then more service calls if the same problem occurs). We have a JGB900BEF2BB GE Profile range, and of course we've run through all the self-help suggestions at and on a dozen other web sites like this one.

Ge profile range door wont close

was the door removed during delivery? Hinges not being fully seated can cause this. also check to see if the lock is striking the door liner, it should line up with a slot in the inner surface of the door and not touch anything unless the oven is in self-clean
