I have the same exact problem. Logitech tech suport just kept going over the obvious routine.

Have similar problem. Not able to hear audio from speakers and headphones at the same time. Skype 4.0 seems to mute the speakers. All other apps send audio to heaphones and speakers fine.

I call my friend and i cannot hear her while she is talking.

There are two obvious reasons (and a number of not-so obvious ones) for this.
1. Have you got your sound on (and adjusted properly) ? You might have your sound turned down or off on your PC or just within Skype. To test if your sound is working, try making a test call using the Skype test call facility.
2. Your friend's microphone may not be working, they may not have one or its sensitivity in Skype may be turned down or it may be 'muted'. Ask to check that her microphone is not muted. Ask her to make a test call on Skype and adjust her microphone sensitivity so that she can hear herself sensibly.

On my version of Skype the test call has appeared in 'contacts' but now it is accessible from the menu at the top left of the window from the call > audio settings menu/page. You can change your volume, microphone and speaker sensitivity settings on that page. You may have a different version of Skype of course.

First Make sure that both you and the person you are calling are using the latest version of Skype.

http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full

If your contact cannot hear you, it can be either on your side or theirs.

Please confirm that you have done the following:

If you go in the Tool menu, then Options, you will get a section called Audio settings.

There you can chose the right Input device, in your case you want the microphone of your webcam, and once it is selected try talking and you should see a "green line" showing as you speak confirming that the device is properly recording.

If the green line is short, you might want to boost the volume by moving the blue dot to the right. You can also uncheck the "adjust my volume automatically" since it can put your volume very low every time a loud noise is caught by the microphone.

If the camera microphone is not listed, installing your webcam software again should make it available after a reboot.

After That, try making a test call (Echo/Sound Test Service). If you can record your own voice and hear it played back to you, then the problem may lie with the person you are calling. If so, ask them to follow these instructions.

Hope This Information is Helpful.

Cannot hear my voice in microphone

These instructions are for Skype 4.2 for Windows or below. Before continuing, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version. For Skype 5.0 and above, refer to these instructions. If you're not sure which version of Skype you're using, it's easy to find out.
If the person you are talking to in a Skype-to-Skype call cannot hear you there are a number of steps you can take in order to help you set up your system correctly so that others can hear you.

Try calling Echo123. If you can hear your own recorded voice then your playback device (headphones, speakers, etc) and microphone are set up correctly and the problem might stem from low internet bandwidth, or that the person you are calling has not set up their sound devices properly.
If you cannot hear your own voice in Echo123 check that your microphone is on.

Test Echo123 again to see if the microphone now works..

THANKS.
If none of these steps work you might need to adjust your computers sound setup. Have a look at our Sounds Setup Guide.

IM messages not going through

1) If you use Windows XP/Vista etc. firewall go to: Start > Settings > Security Center > Windows Firewall > Exceptions > Thick the "Skype" in the list, of if it isn't there click "Add Program..." > Select from the list or if it isn't there click "Browse..." > Navigate to the C:Program FilesSkypeSkype.exe (or something similar) > Ok
2) If you don't have Windows Firewall enabled, but use Antivirus/Internet Security Suite/Firewall software, go to this program, find the firewall settings and Skype to exceptions.
3) If your computer is on the work/school network, the network administrator has blocked access port to Skype - you should either ask your administrator or use Skype via this web interface: http://imo.im

I HAVE TROUBLE HEARING MY CONTACT

Hello there!

Dear Esther M Shane, if you are having problems with hearing other skype contacts, please do next :

Check your output(speaker) volume, put it on maximal,

talk with your contact, advise him/her to volume up their output, or to possibly change their quality due to equivalent of your chat.

Its not really your fault if you cant heart their output very well, those people should check for problems with their imputs, ofcourse if you done all checkings I have told at the text up there.

I wish you good luck and a lot of quality usage of skype!

Sincerely
Aleksandar Adzic

MIC NOT WORKING i CAN SEE AND HEAR OTHERS THEY CAN SEE ME BUT CANNOT HEAR ME

Check your sound preferences by double clicking the speaker icon in the corner of the monitor first. Make sure it's working there, it's in the Input Tab. Then when you are sure it's working there, go into Skype preferences and change your mic input to the appropriate mic input, and then use the Test Call to check your microphone settings to see if they work, if you hear yourself then others will be able to hear you. I've gotten Skype to work with Windows and now in Linux too.
