RDVD won't record

I did not have any problem until one day my daugther played an audio CD. Now when i try to record it won't work. I set the record mode then hit record. I get the REC 00:00:00 and then it freezes. The counter won't move. I can play DVD movies without a problem.

How can I record a music cassette to a music disc on my Magnavox DVD recorder/ VHS --Model # ZV427MG9

You can't burn a CD-A with the ZV427MG9. The unit will not burn to a CD to play in a CD player.

You may be able to record the audio to a DVD with no video source. Connect your cassette player to the Line In audio ports (L/R) at either the back or front of the unit. Depending on your cassette player, you may need a 3.5 mm M to RCA F/F adapter to connect the RCA audio cable to the cassette player's headphone jack. Do not connect a cable to the video input of the composite input unless you have a video on a camera or something to play back. This means that the recorded video may say "No Signal" or will be black or static. (Note: this may not work with this signal issue.)

Set the unit to record to DVD on L1 or L2, as needed, by pressing Source on your remote. Advance the cassette to where you want to record. Press Rec on the DVD unit and then press Play on your cassette player. If you want to identify tracks, Stop the recording and play back and then press Rec and Play again. You are at risk of having issues with the volume during the recording. Clipping of overly-loud sounds and distortion is possible.

When done, finalize the disc, if desired, to play the disc on other DVD players.

If you want to make an audio CD, you would be better off using a computer and connecting the cassette player to the Line In jack of the computer. You do have to make some adjustments to avoid recording the default Microphone input. Use a program like Audacity or any other audio editing program. Record the signal and divide it into tracks, if needed. Now you can filter out any distortion as well. Then save as a WAV file. Use a different program to burn the WAV files to a CD-A. (This must be burned as a mastered disc; my attempts that worked on an older CD player failed if there were gaps between the tracks. Lots of programs will do this; Roxio Creator is one option.)

The manual for the ZV427MG9 is available here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf .

I hope this helps.

SUDDENLY THE SOUND QUIT (HEART A POP SOUND LIKE A BULB POP) PICTURE STILL WORKS BUT NO SOUND- WHAT CAN I DO?

Hello,
First, you need to find out, if this is a problem from your audio (sound) cord or from the unit or from sound settings.
Connect the player/recorder with another audio cord to the TV. Use a RCA (red and black wire). If sound still doesn't come out, check sound settings.
Go to menu, settings, sound, check all settings under sound. This should me done when playing a moved. If problem still persists after check sound settings and changing cord, then it means the sound card/board of your player/recorder is defective and that's why it won't bring out sound.
At this point, I would suggest you take the player/recorder to a repairman to fix for you because this is not a DIY thing. You need a professional to help you out.
Let me know if you need further assistance, please let me know.
Regards.

SAMSUNG DVD R120 error EC:0207

I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.
