You have to have a wireless card installed on the desktop. Either a PCI wireless card that will be installed inside the computer on one of the pci slots or you can use a usb wireless card that plugs into the usb port.
Unlike laptops, there will be no switch to turn on or off. The wireless on desktops is controlled by the software program that comes with the wireless adapter.

You would need to purchase a wireless adaptor to add to your daughter's pc. Once installed alone with the drivers/software, you should have no problem getting her connected wireless.
