Question about Cobra Microtalk 100 FRS Walkie Talkie Radios 2 Pack

1 Answer

Cobra microtalk LI 7500 WX

I bought a set new and can not get them to tx and rx to each otheron the same channel. However when I set one to channel 19 and the other to chanel 4 they work. If I set one to 20 and the other to 5 they work and if I go up on both radios the same number of channels they work untill I get past channel 22 and the radio goes to channel 1, the other radio is at channel 8 then. I think they may be programed with different freqs on different channels. is it possible for me to change the freqs on these so they are able to talk on the same channel? How do I do that? (The manuel only says how to change channels not how to change the freq of the channel) Please email me with an answer if you can help jonnybassist@gmail,com Thnaks in advance.

Fyi my Cobra microTALK LI7500-WX came out of the box with one of the radios slightly off frequency, limiting range to about 100 ft. I was able to use a counter to fix it. The freq adjust is under the front faceplate that covers and protects the LCD screen, pry it off to expose one tuning pot.

SOURCE: Brand New Cobra microtalk won't work!

Double check against all the instructions - in particular, make sure the batteries are charged according to "before first use" spec, that the volume is turned up, and that the squelch (if fitted and not automatic) is adjusted properly. If it still doesn't work, take it back to Wal-Mart. If the product doesn't work, there's no need for the packaging to be in good condition - it's not as if they'll be needing it to resell the goods to anybody else. A.

I need help programming my baofeng 997s

To programme a repeater. VFO mode & curson on top line of display. Enter freq eg 147.250. Go menu button change settings like offset, tone. In menu delete channel required eg 000. In menu below that, choose mem channel now 000 & it saves receive freq.

Exit. press *SCN button so R appears on display. Save as 000 again but this time it stores TX freq. In other words, you save RX first, then exit.Add * so R appears in display second time round and save again TX freq. Go to channel mode and see it is in 000.

I might do a video to help people. Its the same process with UV5r and other Baofeng. Simplex you just save in one operation because TX is RX.

Stuck on rx mode

Rx is an abbreviation for receive. (Tx is transmit) There are a variety of reasons a radio will be "stuck" in Rx:
1) Another radio in the group is stuck in transmit and you cannot reply if your radio is receiving the other radios transmission.
2) Your radio is programmed for Rx only.
3) Your radio has a Tx problem such as a bad mic, or something covering the mic opening.
4) Your battery is low or bad. It takes more energy to Tx than to Rx.

Best regards.

Tk3312 will not recieve repeater but audio is fine and channels with out pl are fine

1- Did you choose the right Tone for both RX & TX?

If you have RF present but not the right tone, the green led should turn on.
One of the side key should be a Momentary "Squelch Off" (By default, it programs like that). Use it when you you see the green led turn on.

If you have the wrong Tone Squelch programmed, the side key will let you hear the repeater to confirm the problem.

2- If it didnt do the trick, Look for a RX/TX frequency mismatch. maybe your RX/TX frequencies are wrong for this channel?

3- If you have checked all the above, maybe your radio have a bad ceramic filter and your unit has lost it's sensibility. (Youll hear only people near to you.)
If it's the case, usualy only one half of the filter goes bad. Try swapping the Bandwith type in programmation. If WIDE, try NARROW or the opposite. If you receive in narrow but not in wide, the filter is bad. In more than 50 radios with Sensitivity problem, I only got one with both Wide/Narrow sides of filter bad.
If you have access to a spectrum analyser, on a "RX Test" you should see ~0.2uV. Anything higher than 0.3uV mean you have a serious RX problem.

Sorry about taking so long to respond. These radios have worked properly in the past. They have increasingly become worse to the point they will not Tx. I have tried to com-cate with a good radio but unsucc. I'm thinking the Tx freq has been altered? Can one freq (Tx) be altered and not the other (Rx) or will both become altered?

Cobra 29ltd classic : no rx / tx

Hi,

D23 is the reverse protection diode and it shorting is the primary reason your fuse blew. As you posted, power was applied in reverse, hence other components would also fail. Pls check:
1. D22 - 9.1V Zener Diode
2. TR23 (2SC1096) 9 Volts regulator
3. D19 - 5.1 Zener Diode
4. IC4 (TA7222) - Audio Amp
5. TR14 (2SC2029B/10) - Finals
6. TR15 (2SC2028B/20) - Driver
7. Most capacitors over 220uF (like C123, C114 & C112)

Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
