Question about Arctic Air 22 cu. ft. Commercial Freezer F22CWF

1 Answer

Defrost hose plugs

We have operated a Artic Air model F22CWF2 freezer at our church for one year. I understand that a vertical flexible hose on the rear of the unit is part of the automatic defrost sysyem. The tube becomes plugged with froozen ice which stops the air flow and permits ice to accumulate inside the box. What can be done?

Remove the back cover to access the top of that drain line. Take some table salt in a tablespoon and dump in the tube. Will drain so fast you won't believe it. Might have a big build up of ice blocking the top so get your hair dryer and defrost that big build up. Flush with small amount of water and monitor the drain pan located under neath the freezer. hope this was helpfull

I have the same problem with my Arctic Air F22 freezer. I also owned one at a business and I have a friend that bought one for his home. All three have the exact problem. The Date of manufacture is 2005. Arctic Air says the model had no manufacturing problems but this does seem unusual. Draining the line works but the problem reoccurs within a few weeks.

Do you know of some possible PERMANENT solutions to this issue?

My artic freezer f22cwf4 compressor is not turning on. I have replaced the thermostat and all the fans are working. The unit is only 6 years old.

Not an expert opinion but seems that either you have low refrigerant and maybe the compressor is not therefore starting or the compressor has an issue, or the power to the compressor is missing.

Artic air af23 the power light is on, but the thermostat display is not on and the freezer is not working

Possibly the temperature sensor is faulty(out of spec.) and it will cause that problem or the display unit is faulty. Suggest you replace both if you decide to replace the display.

There is a drain plug in the bottom of freezer. How do you defrost and not have water on floor. Is there an attachment hose of some kind? I do not have a manual.

You did not supply a make or model. Typically there is a drain in the freezer with a drain tube to a drain pan below the machine. If you take the bottom grille you should be able to see the drip pan and the drain tube. The drain tube is a flexible tube about 1/4" diameter you might be able to attach an extension using a barbed fitting that you can get a a home depot or lowes.

I have an Maytag upright freezer.Does it self defrost?if so how does it self defrost?Do you have to leave the plug and hose out all the time? model # is rfu1500aaw

This is not a self defrosting freezer . Remove the plug and hose ONLY when you unplug to defrost . You should defrost when the coils get about 1/4 " of frost (ice) on them . Otherwise , the frost will act like the plastic insulation on electrical wire , not letting the coldness freeze the food solidly .

Freezer doesnt freeze and red light at top came on

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model
