GE Profile Ref. Ice despenser motor does not turn. Auger turns

Everything else works fine. When I call for Ice I can hear the lever engage and the trap door open but the motor does not turn the auger. Can trun the motor clock wise by hand and feel the reduction gear resistance. MOD. PSS26SGRD SS

    Are you talking about the wire at the base of the door by the hinge. Or a connection behind the control panel. If so how do I access the connection.

    I had the same problem. Pulled the bulb, dispenser worked fine. Replaced old with new bulb. Unbelievable, an old light $1.00 light bulb caused the problem. Thank you.

    Oh my, I can't believe it was that simple!

    I just pulled out the bulb on my fridge and the ice started dispensing right away.

    Thanks chandleg, what a great help - the wife can't live without fresh ice!

I had this same problem today, and after tearing apart the door and digging with the multimeter, I found that the bulb was drawing to much current {probably due to age} and that pulling it made everything else start working. The high resistance was drawing too much current from the IC on the door panel board.

I'm going to get a new bulb tomorrow, but if you yank the bulb it'll probably work. {If you have the same problem}

    Sorry for the spelling. I meant $170 and he wanted me to thaw out the motor. When I removed the bulb everything worked fine and I save $170

Your wire harness at the base of the door could have a broken wire. Might just be a bad auger motor but you should hear it trying to run if that was the case.

GE refrigerator model GSS22 WGMD ice maker motor

If you cant manually turn your auger motor, it may be bad. Does it dispense solid ice or no ice at all? Another thing may be your control panel. That could be bad too, it's the one sending juice to both your solenoid and auger motor.

Ice dispenser auger does not work.

Hi, On GE refrigerators the motor is not quiet. Open your freezer, remove the ice bin, press the door switch, make sure it turns off the light, and then press the ice dispenser lever. The solenoid will click, which also opens the ice door and the auger motor will turn on and you can definitely hear it. If the motor runs then inspect the auger connection on the rear of the ice bin, its plastic and they break. On some models, like my GE Adora there is a switch just for the ice maker behind the ice bin. If you need more help let me know as with all long distance troubleshooting we try with the information we have. Thanks and Good Luck!

Ice dispenser not working

Scorpio, remove the ice bin itself, dump the ice and see if you can move the bin auger by hand by turning the actuator in the rear. If the bin is ok, with the door open and the door switch held in see if the auger motor is turning when pressing the ice lever. If it's not turning the next logical step is to see whether the auger motor is getting voltage when calling for ice. Make sure the door switch is closed. The part number for the auger motor on the posted model is wr60x0202. Hope this gets you going..Catriver.
