System will not play disc. Continually spins, but it never loads
The system is almost two years old, and it will not play any discs. It continually spins, and will not load. I took it to a Play-n-Trade, and they said my AV input is shot. They said it is connected to the main board, and that would be an expensive fix. Is there any way to correct this problem?

Do NOT take it to a repair shop plus Play-n-Trade is **** you they want you to buy a whole new console.. you must and I mean you must call (1-800-4my-xbox) I had same exact problem its not the AV input its more complicated than that. To sum it up the disk drive is broken... If your xbox was repaired by another repair shop the warrenty is VOID I hope you didnt do this but if its untouched call Microsoft the will have prepaid shippping and repair and they will tell you time for repair and give you a UPS Tracking Code and the Xbox.com Code so you can check on your xbox.

maybe it has to do with scratches deep scratches that won't come out sometimes it only takes 1 sometimes it takes 10 its all chance and a good way to find out is some disc fixer if it can't get it out its a bad scratch (and disc fixer never seems to run out i got $7 gamestop one years ago i still use)
The update corrupted your hard drive that's why it's not loading any disc.Yes,Restoring the system will work but it will destroy all your saved game data.Updating the system will not remove the hard disk defect. There is only one solution,Reset it.
With two discs in the system, it is more than likely that the discs are stuck. This would prevent the discs from spinning and it is possible that the discs are wedged. If you are handy, you could try to take the case off and remove the discs manually, otherwise I would advise taking it to a repiar shop.
This is not nessesarily a solve issue, however it worked with mine, I had the same issues when playing games. I would be in the middle of gameplay, and the the error screen would pop up and say that the disc coudnt be read, All I did to fix the issue was open the unit, blow the dust off the disc drive motor and attatched ****, then I used some 3 in one oil on all the motors inside the system. So far it hasnt messed up (FINGERS CROSSED) I hope this helps.....I noticed with my gamecube that it would quit spinning the game, and after I made it past the gameplay loaded in memory it would error out because it needed to spin the disc and load more programing into memory.....if your disc dont spin you are guarenteed a disc read error
Have you tried other discs? If so it could be that your laser crapped out. It happens sometimes with no warning. Or if someone really used the system a lot with the guitar hero thing - that kind of intense use can burn em out. I've repaired these for years & have seen this before. Above all though, make sure your disc is CLEAN with no scratches. If another disc will play then you know your laser is good. You could try the disc on a friends machine & see if it works there. I can only give suggestions as I cannot see the problem occur & don't have all the details. Good luck
