Make sure you don't have food or packages jammed all the way against the back wall of the unit. Many of these relay on cold air that circulates down the back wall. If the air's passage is blocked, you can get warmer spots in some places.

Bottom half of fridge and freezer are cold top half warm?

This sounds like an air flow issue, If your freezer fan is running still you may have a defrost problem starting in the freezer cooling coils. This will cause the cold from the freezer to back flow into the bottom of the fridge and only the lower half of the freezer to keep very cold.
Most likely culprit for defrost issues would be the terminating thermostat (inside freezer behind back wall and clips to top of coils).
Good luck and let me know if you need more help!

check the damper door vent as it sounds as if it has frozen itself shut or possibly the cold control in the refrigerator has gone bad and can't control the door, the door is usually behind a diverter panel or a grille where the fan forces the cold air in from the freezer, the cold control is the component that you adjust to change refrige temp setting

The bottom half of the fridge/freezer is cool, but not the top half. What's wrong . This is a side by side.

The evaporator fan inside the freezer usually behind the back panel circulates the cold air and blows it into the fridge. Make sure it's running when the compressor runs. And make sure the fan can blow the air into the fridge through the vent.

FRIDGE AND FREEZER IS COLD AT THE BOTTOM AND WARM AT THE TOP

It is a thermostat problem. It can be fixed but is sometimes cheaper to buy a new one.

We had a power outage and top half will not work

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Whirlpool side by side freezer not working fridge is fine

Pull out the fridge and unplug. Remove the back cover. Clean the condenser coils and fan. If they're difficult to get to, use compressed air to blow out. (you can get a can from walmart). That should fix the problem. If that doesn't work, then write back.

Ge profile fridge bottom freezing up

found the problem .the compressor is not putting out enough cold to freeze the coils' only half the coils are freezing in the bottom of the fridge. the fan draws it's cold air from these coils and pulls it up to the top of the fridge where it's dispersed into the top half of the fridge' hence the stat never see's that it's cold enough to shut off the switch . in other words if the coils down below were all working a lot more colder air would be pulled up to the top and the stat would then shut off . Solution is to seek a refund from the service tech and buy a new fridge . it's not worth putting a new compressor into this one although it is only 5 years old hope this helps someone who has the same problem
