My Paradigm PDR-8 Subwoofer is suddenly outputting much quieter than ever.

I have boosted the volume to full both on the sub and my Onkyo receiver, to no avail. It seems to have dropped by 50 -75%. I have checked all settings on the recieved and the sub, according to all manuals, still no solution. What could be causing this?

SOURCE: PDR-10 subwoofer has no output. 120vac to unit is

I have exactly the same situation with my PDR-10. Paradigm techs were of no help, don't me to take it to a service centre which i did. Of course when it was there they plugged it in and it stayed on for a day and a half so no problem right? Get it home, nothing, plugged and replugged, got it on once but not for long. Opened up back, everything including fuse looks solid and fine....to naked eye anyhow.

How do I hook up the receiver to the subwoofer to the tv

Here's the Owner's manual -> https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paradigm.com%2Fdownloads%2FOM-100.pdf.
There are many ways to connect the system depending on your receiver's outputs and the speakers. Usually, the TV L/R output connects to one of the receiver's inputs. The receiver's preamp sub output goes to the powered subwoofer. The receiver's FL/C/FR/SL/SR/RL/RR speaker outputs go to the respective speakers.

My receiver is not picking up the subwoofer, there is noise coming from the sub when I'm playing with the conection. The speakers are working and im getting prefect sound from them Please help.....

It would be helpful to know if this is a new problem on working equipment or a new problem on NEW equipment. And if you've flipped through the manual without success.

Of course you KNOW the sub must have its own amp, right?

First, you need to determine if the Onkyo or the unnamed sub is at fault.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Onkyo-TX-SR608-Receivers-manual/id/23653ag916/t/2/

At the Onkyo, check to make sure you have run the speaker setup starting on Page 40. If that doesn't work...

Disconnect the subwoofer pre-out at the Onkyo and move it to the VCR Out, tune an FM station and be ready for some real loud subwoofer output if your sub has no volume control of its own. If you can hear the sub, it works and it's back to the Onkyo. If not, the unnamed sub

Getting nothing out of this speaker. Was clicking for a while. Power light is on.Can I open it up and just hook up the speaker by itself to check that part It is a pdr 8 subwoofer

That would be one way to isolate the problem to either the woofer or its amp.

But do you know that it's getting an audio signal from your ?? unnamed source? Its setup could be at fault.

Or you could jack a CD player or any other audio source directly into the sub amp and see if THAT works. Start with something low as you won't have control of the volume.

SUBWOOFER VOLUME PROBLEM

Make sure you have the sub connected to the proper output on the receiver and no connections are damaged.
Then check the gain/level control for the sub. on the receiver...turn it up if it's down.
Make sure that in speaker setup, that you have the selection for a sub turned on.

Very low ouput from subwoofer preout

The problem was that some subwoofers (inluding my velodyne model) cannot process the LFE signals through the line level inputs on its amps, so the other way to run your subwoofer is to run the front left and right speaker outputs from your receiver to the speaker-level inputs on your sub, and then plug your front and left speakers into the soeaker level outputs on the sub. you have to set the onkyo receiver to "Subwoofer: No". that way the LFE signals are sent through the front speaker channels and you will get the same BASS output as if using the line-level input. O So yes it does require a bit more speaker cable, but it works fine now.

Power problem with Paradigm PDR 10 Subwoofer

Yes it can be.You can check it with ohmmeter the impedance should be 4 or 8 ohms. But if you can disassembly the sub its better then you can see and check everything. My guess is that one of the cables on the speakers connector is broken and its just touching the conntact.
