Brushes are switched on by lowering the handle which activates a micro-switch located inside the lower part of the machine. Vacuum must be running as well. The DC power for the brush motor comes from a Bridge rectifier located on the PC board located in the handle. I have drawings that might help you.

As I was cleaning with my Hoover windtunnel 2, it just stopped working, I changed plugs, and it still doesn'T work, It's about 2 years old

A vacuum has a powerful motor with internal brushes that make contact with the rotor. If the brushes wear down or break apart, the motor will not function. Brushes can be damaged if DIRT gets into the motor. Replacing the brushes may solve the idle motor problem. If you have Volt Meter, you can test the switch in the vacuum handle for continuity. If the switch is broken, this too will be a cause for the vacuum not to function. Replace the switch.

Beater bar isnt working I have replaced motor on dyson dc18

Be sure you are getting power to the brush bar motor. Power comes from the main switch to the brush bar switch, then to the micro switch that activates when the handle is reclined, then to the brush bar motor. Any openings in the circuit will cause the brush bar motor to not work.

Bissell power steamer brushes will not turn

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller is not turning. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

The motor on my carpet tool (beater brush) stopped running yesterday. The main vacuum still works, but the switch for the carpet tool just clicks and doesn't turn it on.

Knowing the model would help.
Possible problems:
Broken or disconnected wire in hose, connections, power nozzle.
Hose needs replaced. Check all connections for discoloration and cracked supports. Have power nozzle checked at a vacuum shop. Depending on the model, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for this.
Bad power nozzle motor Needs replaced.
Bad switch. Take the whole machine in for thorough check and repair..

The brush is not working when I turn the power on and the belt appears to be on and intact. How do I fix it?

This is actually a bad design by Bissell. Remove the Lift-Off portion of your vacuum cleaner. Down at the bottom, where the Lift-Off portion was sitting, you should see a small electrical plug part. What usually happens is this plug arc's, which causes it to burn the plug, and stop the power nozzle from spinning. If you see any black, or burning around this plug, take your vacuum back into Bissell, they will fix this, or give you a new vacuum for free. They don't even sell us their warranty stations this plug piece, you can only exchange it for a new vacuum.

If this is not burned, check the reset button for the brush, it's either located near the plug, or on the side of the brush portion of the vacuum.

I hope this was helpful to you.
