Depending on the brand of your router, open IE and type the default gateway to the address box. Get the default gateway by going to Start -> Run -> CMD. Then type: ipconfig. Look for Default Gateway. It should look like 192.168.xx.xx... Copy it to IE. It will ask you for your user/password. If you didn't change this, the default user/password should be found at the bottom of your router.. Ex: For Linksys: user: (blank) password: admin.. Once you're in, look for any wireless setup and look for security. The router should automatically assign you a WEP key.

1. Access the Network and Sharing Center.

2. Select Set up a connection or network.

3. Click Connect to the Internet.

Dear Assistants I have a router linksys compact wirless - g broadband router. model number WRT 54GC ver. 2 and i have a problem with it I cant find anywhere the WAN MAC Adress of the Linksys What to do???...

The Linksys has a device MAC address and the router issues IP addresses to the computers that are connected to it.
There is no WAN MAC address. Your ISP issues to your cable or DSL modem an unique IP address and you connect this modem into the WAN port on the Linksys router.
You enter the routers configuration address -
http://192.168.1.1
and login and configure the router.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

I'm trying to access my wireless Linksys router to secure it.

First inplug power from router via the jack(not the wall outlet) and then unplug the cable going to the modem, take the blue ethernet cable that comes with router and plug into internet port now you can secure your router without worrying about internet threats. Open your web browser , in the url bar type 192.168.1.1 hit enter and a window should open, asking for username/password if you have not set one the default is admin in the username field then hit enter. If you have already password connected it and forgot password you need to unplug everything from router and then hold down reset button on back. There will be a screen that will walk you through all aspects of setup, security, firewall, wirless setup , wireless security, and it will give you a break down of all options on the right side of each window. Important to setup a passkey!!! Otherwise people can get into your network easy. once setup plug blue cable into ethernet port and modem cable into internet port. plug in power and you should be set. The cd that came with router should be first used. Do not broadcast wireless ssid and use wireless pin to connect computer.

I have wireless broadband with a Belkin ADL2+

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

I have cricket broadband wireless internet, how do i set up my belkin wireless router to it so i can send out a internet signal to another source?

Hi,

You cna get the router manual on the below link free link

http://dl.owneriq.net/8/81c69071-e6b4-da74-6921-04cb37aa97a5.pdf

Also you can follow the below steps to set it up
  1. Connect the router with a power cable and switch on the poser, reset the router with its reset button normally you can find the reset button on the rear side of the router for 30 seconds and then switch off and on the power
  2. After reset conenct the router to any laptop or desktop with a cable and also connect the router to the modem or the internet service provider cable
  3. after all connection lights will come on go to right hand side corner of the computer and check if the network connection is showing connected
  4. Once you are connected with a wired connection open a page of internet explorer and type in router addess normally it will be http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and then type the username and password default usernames and passwords can be found in router manual.
  5. Once the router setup page is open you can confugure the router easily without the CD setup.
  6. The advantage is you do not have to run the setup CD and you can also do wirless settings for your wireless laptops or devices
  7. Go to the wirless settings page and you can select the wireless on and off or you can setup a wireless security to avoide your router with unauthorized acess
  8. I would recomend always keep the wireless network secured if you are using the router for a home or small office as there can be people who will be using your bandwidth for free without your permission
  9. one more tip i would like to give whenever any kind of setup is required on the router do it by a wired connection only and not thought a wireless pc or laptop as it can disconnect you from the router in between of your setup
  10. WEP is the kind of wireless security which is easy to setup and remember and most wireless cards of laptops and computers support it
Let me know if this will help

Regards

You could set up a mac address filter with just your routers address or you could set up a wireless key that only your computer uses. Here is a quick tutorial:

MICROSOFT WIRELESS ROUTER

ok...
first you need to find the default gateway of the router,u need to do this settings in the computer which is wired to the router, securing the network over a wireless connections is not suggested..
click on start, run, and type in cmd,hit enter,a black box should appear in that box type in ipconfig and hit enter, once you hit enter it will give u a lot of results check the default gateway(default gateway should look like this 192.168.2.1)now open an internet explorer page and remove the website name that present in the addess box,now without http or www type in the numbers,it will tell you to put in the user name and password, username is blank and password is admin (this is generic to all the microsoft routers provided you have not changed it earlier,if u ave changed it then put in the user name and password that you have setup, now it should open a microsoft router page,in that page you will see an option which says wireless click on wireless and then under wirless you will have the wireless security, now you need to enable the security adn choose the type of secuirty type and save the settings once you do that you wireless connection should be setup with a security code...
PS:when you make your wireless network secured make sure that the computer is connected wired to the rotuer..

SECURITY BREECH,HOW CAN I CHANGE MY USER CODES?

I am not sure what you mean by User Codes. But you can try changing the SSID and secure it with a new password. Buy a broadband router that includes a built-in firewall, even if your broadband provider doesn't include one with the service package. Secure your wireless network with WPA or WEP. Turn your wireless off when you are not using it. This will prevent others from trying to use your wireless network. Try to check who is using your network and block him or her.

That is all the advice I can give you.
Good Luck.
