Question about Samsung Refrigerators

My Samsung RS263022 fridge makes humming noises that comes and goes. One day it will hum, the next it won't. The time the noise varies. Listening to the humming, I can tell it is coming from the back. Where does this noise come from and how can I fix it?

The most common problem is the condenser fan, if it has one. It may need cleaning and or oil. Most of them do not have a place to be oiled. The fan can be replaced cheaply. Make sure the power cord is unplugged before taking the cover off of the compressor and fan area.

sounds like the evap fan is hitting something.. or is loose and making noise... I would remove the cover in front of the fan and take motor out and reinstall it making sure all washers and grommets are in place...but I would look for ice build up first, this could indicate a defrost problem..... hope this helped ken

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

I've had the same problem.

The problem is: There is Ice accumulating around the Vent (where the cold air comes in from), and is therefor over working and making noise (that is the reason why the electrician thought it was working too hard, so he changed the capacitor but couldn't pinpoint the problem).

This occurs because the freezer is left open or is opened every other second. Check to see if you can see the ice and remove it, if not, ask your local electrician - they usually know these stuff.

My samsung fridge/freezer is only 3 years old, just started making loud noise, then when the fridge is opened sounds like the fan making a loud noise that goes down and stops. Then not long after that...

Compressors usually make a thrumming/humming noise, so yes, this sounds like the fan. It could be something touching the fan blades, like ice or a wire. If you can unplug the fridge and remove panels near the fan, you may discover the problem.

Makes a clicking noise and humming when starts up

If your unit is fixed with a high speed compressor and in case you are not using a votage stablizer when ever there is a fluctuation in voltage there could be a click noise from the compressor. Do not frequently open your fridge and slowly the noise will vanish. It tells you that the unit is functioning just like our heart making thud thum thud noise when it functions and nothing to be worried about. It is normal.

Noise & icing

sonds like thre is a problem with the defrost because you should not have that much ice on the coils. go ahead and do a manual derfost and make sure that the drain lne is clear and not frozen up. If it is oyu can use a turkey baster with hot water to thaw it until the watr flows easily out the tube in the unit. also how are you gaskets looking? are they starting to leak air into the freezer and the refrigerator/ at 18 years old those are a few of the things to look at. Hopte that htis solves yur problems and if not don't rate this and I can still come back and post answer or solutions for yu. After the final them rate if you would be so kind. Thanks for using FixYa.

if you have ice buildup then the fridge may be low on freon.
or there is dust clogging around the pump or fan is not running.
remove the bottom or back and look around the compressor.
see that the fan is running.

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Hey everyone-

I recently fixed a similar problem with my freezer. I searched first and found this and a few other sites which listed this and wanted to provide input for anyone in the future.

I have a GE GSH25JSRF SS. It is about 3 years old. Several months ago I noticed when the evaporator fan in the back of the freezer turned on it would make an awful howling or whistling sound. Basically sounded like what you would hear from the window of an older house if the wind outside was blowing real strong. It was loud enough to hear on the other end of the house.

I was convinced that it HAD to be the air blowing over the venting or a gap that created that sound. But I read different solutions on the internet and decided to take a chance on simply replacing the evaporator motor and attached fan blade. That solution worked and my house is quiet again, thank god.

I ordered the parts from a supplier on the internet. Keep in mind, though, if you're not real handy it may be more than you bargain for. Might be easier to have a service guy come out.

I'm still not sure exactly what aspect of these parts caused the howling sound. It could be a bearing within the motor or perhaps the fan blade slipping due to wear. Either way, it's fixed now. Just wanted to share. Thanks.
