Hello, This problem is commonly caused by what is known as the (DPA) duplex pendulem assembly. The function of th DPA is to switch the direction of the paper in order to print the duplex side. The DPA sometimes will bind and not work properly which results in the paper jam you have described. See Photo Below.

In order to change this part, the printer needs to be dis-assembled. AN HP Certified Technician would be best to do this repair.
