Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook
Hi! The screen on my latitude c610 is very, very dark - almost completely black. If I look closely, I can see one of the white balloon suggestion boxes at the bottom of the screen. It shows the dell image at the beginning and the press F2 for set up. It even flashes the Windows XP screen, but then goes so dark, you can not even hardly see it. I have taken the memory modules out to see if they were oxidized and cleaned them gently with an eraser, but it didn't help. (I read that they might be the problem somewhere.) I did hook it up to a monitor and the monitor worked fine. (Which is great because I was able to back up info on a flash drive.) But that tells me that it isn't my display settings. Please help! I have a dell inspirion 1720. 5 mins into use the screen starts to darken and just gets darker. I've had it 16 months & warrenty expired. Plugged into a monitor it's fine. What can I do to fix?
Replacement laptop inverters are on ebay from $10-15 post paid.
A British mob claims inverter transformers are the root cause, and sells replacements. In Vietnam, they rewind them (they also remake speaker coils. Ive seem jobs where any transformer that is physically close, seems to work.
If your inverter has no lights, generic inverters are also available, again use google or scout ebay

What you are describing is the inverter in a the laptop display going bad. The only fix is to purchase the correct display inverter for that model and install it in your laptop display.
