Question about Samsung DVD-TR520 DVD Recorder
I rewired my configuration setup (Changing the position of my VHS recorder, cable hookup, etc.) and now I can't get my Samsung DVD-TR520 to output to the TV. I rewired things again so the Samsung connects directly to the TV via an antenna cable and also a video/audio cable, but the info from the dvd recorder does not show on screen. The recorder plays a disc, but the image does not show onscreen. Also, the dvd recorder will now not record. The "rec" buttin does nothing. Help please.
I have the Samsung dvd-vr 357. I have had a couple problems with it but I called samsung and they walked me through fixing it each time. I don't know if you have tried this or not but that is my suggestion. The last problem I had was copying from vcr to dvd. I got audio but no video. Problem was it was on dvd when i started it, it should have been on vrc. It should be set on whichever one you are recording from. Hope this helps someone.

Hey New firmware available for this "Timer issue" from Samsung and it works for me.
New firmware version - 080610.
Just ring Samsung and find out. They can advise nearest service cnter to do this.

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

You have to "Finalize" the disc before it will play on other units. Go to Disc Menu, Second choice listed(not in front of it right now) Selections to right will offer disc Finalize. Say YES.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG DVD R120 error EC:0207
I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.
