-   I have an HD160 and the light does not stop flashing. A first time it started with the problem it sort of fixed on its own, however I can not get it to work. I checked the power supply circuit and voltages are working fine. Anybody knows how to reset it?-   Guest

-   I have the same problem. I have a fairly new MyBook home edition. I read something on another forum but I cannot confirm its accuracy. It said that the circuit board is fried/damaged and the device is not getting enough power to make the device function (aside from the quick flashing lights).

-   this is brand new, and was used as backup to last year's 1tb WD MyBookwhen I needed drivesavers to retrieve my data. Different problem with this one. Lighton drive just flashes but will not come to fully lit/on.

-   Same problem (computer does not recognize drive) with my Maxtor Personal Storage 3100 80 GB. Worked perfectly in the past -but now, nothing.

This may sound silly, but sometimes if you put the drive in the freezer overnight it will work long enough for you to retrieve your data.Make sure you are ready to copy the data to another as it will likely fail again once it warms up.

Hi! I connected My WD My Book Essential Edition 750GB to my brand new WD LIVE TV media player adapter. My problem is that sometimes when I turn off WD LIVE TV, the hard drive stays on. But, when I turn the WD LIVE back on then it does't recognise the external hard drive as connected. Sofar, I solve this by disconnecting the external hdd from power supply and reconnect. How to make my hdd turn off each time I turn off my WD LIVE? Thank you in advance.

I just purchased a My Book Essential 2TB and trying to backup my Mac OS X? I am able to see all the info but it is not letting me use backup. Is it for windows only? And if so, what do I need?
