Check the video card and its cable and make sure it is seated correctly. Then, if your BIOS is an AMI, do the following: Your computer has memory problems. First, check video. If video is working, you’ll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. Check your SIMMs. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn’t do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second bank memory chips. First banks are the memory banks in which your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory. You’ll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all of your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

1st )

Test the RAM on another computer
Does it work?
A. If not...... Need New Ram.
B. If it works.....

Then, place the RAM stick into another slot on the computer with the problem.
Does it work?
A. If not.... Could be that indeed the MOBO has a crack in it.
B. If it works...... Problem sort of solved. It means that that particular slot is bad

Sounds more like dirty ram or dirty graphics card.

Unplug the pc from teh electrical outlet, remove the Ram and the Graphics card, clean them with a dry small paint brush and the slots that they fit into. (while your computer is open, you may as well give it a little vaccum to get rid of dust etc...), then replace the Ram and Graphics card, making sure that they are inserted firmly but gently and the clips are clicked back into place. Restart the computer.

Hopefully this will help you resolve your problem

Dell inspiron 530 desktop won't boot, fan is running, no signal on monitor

It sounds like either your monitor or video card inside the computer is bad.

If the monitor is showing the "No Input Signal" message then the video card inside the computer is bad. The monitor is ok otherwise it would not be able to display the No Input Signal message.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the computer is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in and hit the power button to see if it boots.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Tip

Computer beeps

If you try to power on your computer and nothing happens but a bunch of beeps there is something you can do. The beeps actually mean something. To make sure you can hear the beeps check in the bios options. If there is an option for a silent boot you won't hear any beeps. If you hear one beep every time your computer starts then you don't have to worry about this.

If you want to check this setting refer to my other tip on how to enter bios and change boot settings.

If you try to boot your computer and nothing shows up on your monitor do these steps first.
1-Check all your cables in the back of the computer.
2-check your power source and power cord to the monitor
3-try another monitor if possible
4-If on a power bar try to turn off the power bar and reset the breaker

If you try to boot your computer and nothing happens and you hear beeps look at this website. The beeps you hear are actually telling you what is wrong. Look at the website by clocking on the link below and click on the computer beep codes link. If you want to scroll down past the link it will show you bios codes to enter the bios in your computer

Alienware Aurora Desktop does not boot, has no HD activity

If the activity light on the front of the tower is not glowing than it can be an issue with the power supply of the PC. Try to open the tower and try to reseat the Power supply cables and check.
You can also try to Reseat the RAM (memory) sticks. If you have 2 Memory stick you can just try to boot the pc with the help of one stick and vice versa. If still the issue persist you can try to do a test on the Motherboard. Simply take out the Memory cards and power on the pc . if you hear a beeping noise than the Motherboard is fine and if you dont hear a beeping noise that it is a faulty Motherboard.

Hp pavillion 533w wont boot up green light on front comes on but thats it no fans coming on either

Hi ,

If the green light comes on on the front panel then it means the fan is spinning so what u can do is a self test for the monitor.Disconnect the vga cable from the back panel of the computer tower and then check if there is a message displayed on the monitor that should say check video signal or no inoput signal ,if there is no such message displayed then it means the monitor is a fault .If not then reset the memory card and then check .U can also run a test for the motherboard to do this u will have to remove the memory card and then turn the computer on if u hear long beeping noise it means the motherboard is fine .If u dont hear any sound then the mother board needs to be repaired or replaced...

all the best

Monitor and keyboard won't turn on

A couple of things here:

1) The flashing light and signal message indicate that the monitor is functioning but is not receiving a signal from the computer.

2) The memory that you added is liklely to be incompatible with the computer itself and is preventing the system from booting. The computer will perform a selftest when powered on. Normally when there is a memory issue, the unit will beep. In some cases, there will be no action.

Remove the added memory and attempt to boot the system. If it starts up OK, then the memory you have added is the problem.

Update this if you require additional assistance.

Thanks,
Dan

Computer not booting up

Could be one of two things:

1. Signal cable from monitor isn't hooked up. (either monitor end or computer case end)

2. Video card in the computer is damaged and not putting out signal. This is unlikely though as usually this will trip the motherboard into beeping when you turn the computer is turned on.

3.

sounds like the video card to me both by the three beeps and the message, try taking the video card out and putting it back in, or pushing it all the way in if it got knocked out. it could also be RAM, if those are loosened at all they can all sorts of strange problems and even make the wrong error messages occur, try reinstalling both.
