You can broadcast whatever SSID you want from your router - got to the router's config (normally via a browser these days - on a Belkin you go to 192.168.2.1) and you can choose to broadcast the SSID or not, you'll also be able to choose the SSID.

To Sum this up

Make sure your router's wireless is on then have the Wii find it.
Put in it's WEP key (password you picked) and viola you're online

Whqt does ssid stand for

SSID - Service Set Identifier - it is basically the name given to your wireless router access point, that allows you to connect to your Internet service provider wirelessly. It is a name that is set up when you first connect your router to the internet, and is used by all wireless devices to connect.

I do not know what my ssid number is to connect my wii console to the internet to use netflicks

The ssid number is the name you gave your wireless router when you were setting it up. If you do not have a wireless router, then you will need one to connect it wirelessly to the internet. Check your router's manual and it will tell you how login to the router and get the ssid from the wireless settings

Got new internet service. Now I can't connect the internet to the wii!! I need a SSID and I don't where I get that from

Hello! SSID stands for wireless network name. This means that whenever you wanted to connect to your router, you need to know your SSID to join your network. This works very similar in connecting a new laptop to your router. Below is an example in checking the wireless network a Windows 7 Operating System is connected to. "RABBIT and maculit" are examples of SSID. I hope this helps.

Cant connect wii to internet.

Hi wilkieha,

If your having a problem to connect to the internet wirelessly i can provide you the steps on how to connect it. First you need the settings stored on your router. Access your router first using a working computer that is connected to it so taht we can aquire the necessary information taht we need to connect wirelessly.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details.
4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.
Now that we already have the information of your router now is the time we connect the Wii to the internet

1. On your Wii go to Wii Settings
2. Then Select Internet Connection Settings
3. Search for an AP (Access Point) or SSID (Network Name). This is the reason why we need to know the SSID so that we are sure that we are trying to connect to youre own network.
4. Lastly it will ask you to Input the Security Key (Network Key).
5. Try to connect and if successful, Rate me so i can help others like you.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Wat is ssid

SSID is the name of the access point or router through which you connect to the Internet wirelessly. If you are at a WI-FI hot spot where a free wireless connection is provided, then you will not have to worry about entering a SSID. When setting up a wireless connection with a router in your home or business, you will be given or asked to create your own SSID. To be able to connect to the Internet wirelessly, it will be necessary to know the 32-character password that is the SSID.

Connect ps3 wirelees to internet

On your PS3, do the following:

- scroll to settings
- network settings
- internet connection settings
- select wireless

Follow the on screen instructions, and use the 'easy' set up option as it is all that is required on most.

For your Router:
- Know the SSID
- Have WEP key or any security info to hand
- If you have the SSID broadcast switched off on the router, it may not appear on the PS3. If the PS3 cannot locate your network, try enabling SSID broadcast.

Hope that helps!
