Question about Minolta X-700 35mm SLR Camera

1 Answer

New batteries...yet it still does not function.

My minolta x-700 has been idle for a few years.
Recently--i decided to use it again. I have changed the batteries---and there is slight---and only on particular aperture settings --red light showing in the led area.
no other camera functions work---such as the advance level.
how can i be sure the batteries are making contact?
what else could cause these issues?
i am pretty sure its battery related because of no LED lights etc...
what can i do?
thank you...

Was the battery's removed before storing camera? If not corrosion on battery cap and contacts in battery holder. Clean with a pencil eraser, careful with the contact in battery comp.
If not fixed then you have flex circuit problems and that means your camera is a" paper weight" as no parts are available for this model.

What happened when your were testing out batteries and changing the modes? Your question is unclear.

I look forward to hearing a followup question.

Thanks,

Minolta 700 film advance lever was working, then it wouldnt wind, now it is stuck.

Use or buy a brand new battery from store that sell lot of them.

Do not get from store that only has a few, meaning they have been sitting there for years.

How to change battery in minolta camera

Look at the bottom of the camera and you'll see what looks like a large slotted cover. The battery is located in there.

Hello! I've got a Minolta X -700, it's pretty old, but I got it to work a few months ago just by replacing the battery. Now, when I turn it on and pull the advance back, the shutter still...

This is an electronic failure in the cameras shutter release mechanism. Capacitors will need to be replaced and circuit boards need to be cleaned of the electrolytes that have leaked onto them. This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Is there an internal battery for the time and the date?

Manual says: "After installing the batteries, the set-time/date message may appear on the monitor. The clock and calendar are set in section 3 of the setup menu (p. 18)."

In fact if you replace batteries really fast (in a minute or two) and time is reset the internal battery is probably exhausted/broken. You have to decide if it is worth of repairing.

My Z1 has 6 years and the clock does't forget time. Maybe next time i'll be surprised...

High idle problem on 2009 Ranger Crew (700 cc/fuel injection).

If under warranty then bring it back. If you like the way the dealer does its work then go back otherwise find another local dealer to take it to. It could be a sensor that is bad.

Film Advance won't work on Minolta X-700

changing the batteries have no effect on film transport, just a coincidence. take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear on the film take up side of the camera. if it is broken your X700 may not be repairable as no new parts are available.
push the re-wind button in and try to charge the shutter again. remove film first. if it still just goes part way then a gear is stripped. try to find a camera repair shop that may have good used parts available.
