Throttle and brake both in locked positions (hyrdostatic)
48 inch hydrostatic husqvarna...went to lock the foot brake in order to empty bag catchers....got back on and all of a sudden foot throttle as well as brake pedal both in locked positions. Can not seem to get either unlocked. What could be the problem?

Loosen the cable clamp at the linkage at the carburetor and remove the cable end from the linkage. The throttle lever housing has 2 locking tabs on both sides. You might have to use a screw driver to depress the tabs. While depressing one tab at a time push the lever housing up until removed.

there is a rod on the rear of the mower that is pulled back and lock into place this is there to push the mower around when not running it just lift the lever up and it should pull in then your ready to go
if you scroll through these lawn tractor questions, you will note a lot of failed hydrostatic transmissions in the husqvarna line. seems like that is the prime suspect in your problem, if the drive belt is good. i had one and the transmission failed after about 5 years, but I see many with fewer years of wear with the same problem. a new transmission costs about half of what a new tractor costs. these are actually made by the AYP company which pays a licensing fee to husqvarna to use the name. AYP makes most of the mower lines you see in stores. my neighbor has a craftsman with a bad deck which seemed identical to the husqvarna, except color. However when i went to cannibalize his transmission it was completely different and would not bolt into mine, so i went out and bought a simplicity.
Hi, it sounds like the hydrostatic drive is getting too hot. Remove the battery and battery cradle and clean all grass and debris from around the hydrostatic drive and cooling fins. Also check the fan wheel on the hydro is not damaged. Regards Phil.
Try pulling back on the left foot pedal. This manually adjusts the drive belt tension and is a sign that the engine pulley has worn to the point the belt looses traction. A local repairman told me this last week and mine works fine now although in the very near future I'll need to replace the pully. Good luck
the brake caliper is rusted closed causing the pads to stay enguaged, dissasemble the brake caliper and remove the 2 pins and de-rust them with emory cloth. reinstall them with anti-seze and reasemble the brake caliper back onto the transmission should be good to go!
