Today (after having the phone for 2.5 days) I plugged the phone into my computer via the USB cable, and attempted to do a system update from the Update Service application downloaded from the Sony Ericsson website. After following the program's instructions to turn the phone off and hold down the C key while plugging the USB cable into the computer, the program told me that I had the most recent software installed on my phone. I tried to turn the phone on, and it has not worked since. The phone was fully charged when I started the whole process (charged overnight for 8 hours or so). I really don't want to buy a new phone, but the AT&T techs say that's probably what I will have to do.

Both cases sound like hardware problems. Try turning on the phone while it is plugged into the wallcharger and the computer.

If both fail to work, you will need to take it in for a repair. :(

Chances are your phone got too hot during the night and overcharged the Lithium Ion battery. If those batteries are exposed to too much heat then they won't have the battery life they used to have. You need to purchase a replacement battery or contact your wireless carrier to see about getting another one.

Not starting up

hello there!
so you're phone won't charge should buy a new battery...your old battery is not functioning well...
don't use the phone while charging. let it be fully charge before using it again. and don't let it to overcharge too. this will reduce the life span of the battery.
