Question about Kenmore 42161 / 42169 Electric Single Oven
I was trying to bake bread I turned the oven on it made raddling noise. then there was fire in the oven like lightning the the one side of the botom heating element turned flaming red. I had to turn it of from the braker because it started melting. Then the top panel was dead now the oven doesn't work. I know we have to replace the bottom burner but what do I do about the control panel. I hate digital I miss the old fashion dials. If you can help I would appreaciate it.
Yours is the first complaint I've read of an exploding heating element.
Do a little research to see if there is perhaps a safety recall on this problem; a Litton combination range (microwave built into the otherwise conventional oven) was repaired at no cost some 7 or 8 years after we bought it for a design defect involving the magnetron getting soiled by food that had spilled or boiled over and created a chance of fire while in use.
It's worth looking into since the replacement of the electronics is likely to be costly.
