Question about Toshiba TDP-T45U DLP Projector

3 Answers

I heard a pop and now the projector only shows black and white.

I have a Toshiba TDP-T45U DLP Projector and I heard a pop and the picture went black and white.

I opened up the lamp area and there was broken glass in the projector, it kind of looked like the purple of a recordable dvd.
I cleaned out the glass and replaced the lamp with a new lamp.  When I powered on the projector the picture was still black and white.
Is this fixable?

I have the same problem, broken color wheel. tried speaking to Toshiba about it to try and find a replacement, but they didn't want to talk or even acknowledge the parts existence. Toshiba's Australian parts distributor EMPR didn't even know what it is, they only had the lamp, power cable and carry case for spare parts.

Googled the part number located on the part itself and came up with nada, also may need to be a calibrated part once a new one is fitted.

Tried speaking to some Service centres in Sydney about this and they couldnt even understand the part i described, which is a very common part through all DLP's.

Guess is just easier to play dumb sometimes, as in toshiba's case and all its prefered service agents.

Fantastic parts backup! Makes you want to rush out and buy another!

The color wheel has failed in youtr projector. There are 4 pieces of glass in the color wheel which fit togeter in a "pie" formation and they are red, blue, yellow & clear. This wheel is spun by a motor. The glass is glued to the motor's hub, and, when it fails the glass segments are thown off the hub. This gives you a B&W picture because all of the light is allowed to shine through the optics all of the time. Replace the color wheel with Toshiba part no: 23125963. It will be about $65. No soldering is involved, just use care with the ribbon cable to the motor. You will need a no. 2 phillips screwdriver and a set of jeweles screwdrivers to do this.

When the color wheel shattered or with noise, you have to replace it. just you buy the original color wheel, everything will be ok, and directly instally and use it, no need to calibrate it again. but if you bought a replacement color wheel, before install it, you have to calibrate it. compare the location of cursor with your broken color wheel, exchange and re-stick it on your new color wheel. according with your old one.

My TDP-S35 suddenly went to showing only in black and white. Any ideas? It was working perfectly and in the middle of a class it lost all color.

if this is a DLP projector, take the cover off and check the colorwheel. It sound to me like you have lost the segments off the colorwheel.

Color wheel failed. Clean the glass pieces out loose in the unit and replace the color wheel assy with Toshiba part no: 23125963. No soldering is required, just a no. 2 phillips screwdriver and and a set of jeweler's phillips screwdrivers like Radio Shack has.

Faulty projector

You will have to give a Make and Model of your Projector.

Could either be your lamp that needs replacement or a faulty Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )
