light on the front of computers are for power on, hard disk activity and some have a rare number lock on light but is usually found on laptops. this unit has a card reader so the additional light might be the read/write/active light for the card reader.
the computer can't detect the hard drive to start from it or, then theres a problem with your windows. Use the recovery discs or windows setup cd to try to install windows to the computer again to fix the problem. Let me know how that goes. Thanks

Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting and follow the instructions.
Consult your manual, see what the light means, it could refer to hard drive light activity or be a function key you've activated. It could mean the system is trying to push itself into standby or it could mean a variety of things. Get back to me with what the lights designation is.

hmmm check out your power connection. see is the adaptor giving power to your lap when you connect this to laptop. There might be an indicator at the jack point of laptop to your adaptor.
If the adoptor is not working well then try to use another one of same configuration.
