Can some help me fixing my bose lifeStyle 5 music system cd player? I bought it used. First it worked intermittently as whenevr I tried to use volume up/dn on remote the sound is gone. Then after on /off CD player few times this issue did occur again and whole system (CD/Radio) work flawless even via remote. I listen for about an hour and turn off via remote but CD/bass module still connected to AC outlet for whole night. Next evening I tried to connect SPDIF coax output from my DVD palyer to Acoustimass bass module DIN cable, turn or CD player and no sound from cube spk/bass module... CD player still working and I can hear audio via headphone. 3rd issue I noticed that CD player display is alos not working. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Alan, The resistor is on the underside of the CD 5 main pcb near the jack socket it is a small chip resistor, but this can be replaced with a small 1/4 watt or smaller resistor. If you provide me with your e mail address I will send you a copy of the PCB layout drawing, the image size is to large to attach

Dave

I have a bose Lifestyle 5 music center. I previoously asked what may cause no out put to the sub and was told to replace R428 on the back side of the control module (not the sub) The person stated it was...

If the circuit board has a charred area, you have another problem besides the resistor. A short or overload likely caused the resistor to burn. Probably a blown output transistor(s) or chip(s), which generally short when they fail. This creates an overload in the circuit which burns up the load resistor - probably.

Hi,

I cannot exactly solve this issue but I can make a comment based on investigation. Lots of people have this issue but there are very few comments to help solve the issue unfortunately.

I have the same issue and have been able eliminate various things because I have a second complete Bose Lifestyle 5 system.

It is clear the issue does not lie in the Sub and is related to the Music centre unit. I can use a second identical music centre to power my sub just fine and my broken Music centre cannot drive my second sub.

Now the issue is knowing where to track down R428 in the music centre which is the suggested fix to this issue. I have opened my unit and there are resistors various Resistors in the 400 range but no R428.

If anyone can help with the location of R428 in the Music Centre I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Jeff
