Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Wont accept any discs

I took my PS3 appart to take something out of my blue ray drive that my son stuck in there I got it out and I put everything back and then everything turned on fine all my information was still on there but when I went to put a game in it would not automatically take it in. I read on another site that it could be my rollers that are not alligned and thats why it won't take any discs. If thats what it is how can I fix that without sending it in to sony and spending $150 to get it fixed. Please help!

Did you take it apart enough to see the rollers? If so i would recommend finding a picture of how the rollers should look and compare them to how yours look. (you might want to find the picture before you even contemplate taking anything apart). I am not saying however that you should throw away the thought of contacting sony. That should be your last result plan.

Except my ps3 broke. Wouldn't read blu ray discs, but would read ps2 games. I replaced the KEM 400AAA, but now it won't accept discs at all. If my system is off, with no disc inside, and i turn it on, the console attempts to "**** in" a disc. When I slide one in, it usually will not read it, although it sometimes does. Please help me. I put the new part in last night and so far i have only gotten a ps2 game to work properly. Last night Casino on blu ray, showed up, but when I tried to watch it the system froze. Also today i got guitar hero to play, but as i was choosing my character for online play, the game froze and i cant get it to read any more discs. Please help me..

Tip

PS3 Won't accept discs - Here is the fix!

This tip is for people who have already disassembled their Play Station 3 console and tried to replace the laser in the Blu ray optical drive.

If you replace the laser and then reassemble the Blu ray optical drive and the drive will no longer accept discs (like there is something blocking the disc) follow these steps to resolve.

(NOTE: if your PS3 is not accepting discs because the disc just won't push in, not like there is something solid blocking the drive, or your drive is making "grinding noises" refer to this tip: http://www.fixya.com/support/r4321102-bluray_drive_ps3_makes_grinding_noise )

Remove the metal casing of the Blu ray optical if you have not already done so. This requires removing the three black screws and the two silver screws on the bottom of the Blu ray optical drive.

With the metal casing removed, locate the 5 black screws on the top of the Blu ray optical drive to remove. There are two on either side and one at the back in the middle.

Keep the drive together for now (do not take the top off) and reattach to your Play Sation 3 console.

Turn on your PS3 and wait for it to power up.

Now, take the top of the Blu ray optical drive by “unfolding it” so the top of the drive rests on the PS3 power supply.

With the top off, hit the Eject button on the front of your PS3.

The drive gears should “pop” back into place.

Turn off your PS3 and reassemble the Blu ray drive. You should test your Blu ray drive first before reassembling the whole PS3.

Clicking Noise

It depends where the clicking noise is coming from. if the sound is coming from the front of your Console Chances are there could be something loose within the PS3's Blu-Ray drive, if its coming from the back, there could be something affecting the cooling fans such as something stuck inside like dust etc.

if your PS3 is able to play Games and Blu-Ray Discs fine, i would seek Sony technical support, just to make sure everything is okay. you wouldnt want your PS3 to break !

Ps3 wont play games or blue ray dvds

Hello. When you put in a disc, listen for the disc to start spinning. If you do not hear that then the laser and/or the spindle have blown out. You will have to get your Blu-Ray player serviced by a pro or Sony. Sony may fix it for free. They know that the drives are failing. So call them first.
I hope this helps! Good luck to you.
