Hi,
you most likely have a corrupt installation of windows, please use the windows setup cd to install windows again.

if you don't have a copy of windows, I would suggest you take the computer to a computer repair shop for repair as the windows cd costs most likely more than the repairs would

you can look for the cd on ebay www.ebay.com

The cooling for the 745 is not the best. It might be a hard drive overheating. Usually though, if it is the hard drive overheating, it won't restart, but I'm not certain that is always the case. Better to rule out everything. A good program for this is "HDD Temperature" by "Binary Sense". It will not only provide current temps, but also provide a "history" of the extremes for the drives as well as additional information for the drives. It has a free trial but continued use will put you out about $15 US. I find it very useful.

Hello i have a Dell Optiplex 745 it boots up and starts windows 7 normally then the the screen goes black does anyone know how to fix it?

Can you boot into Safe mode. It is usually done by pressing a specific key during the POST session. If you can, then boot into safe mode and delete the Video Driver. Reboot. TYou should have a VGA display, download and install the video driver again.

Sm bus controller 745

Hi if the service tag is missing off the tower do the following.

Turn the PC on and press the F2 key to enter the BIOS screen, now look under the General option - System information, the service tag is listed here.

Click Exit to reboot the PC, now using another PC go to www.dell.co.uk and select the Support - Work option, then enter the tag number and down load the drivers to a USB stick and then install them on your PC.

Dell Optiplex 745 having all kinds of problems getting blue screens, but I can reboot and it works fine. I installed a new hard drive on this computer. I am not able to install the update for windows xp...

Hello,

The main failure on the Optiplex 745 units are capacitors on the motherboard. When they fail you can get all sorts of strange problems - no boot, blue screen issues, no video or distorted video. Open your machine up and look for bulging capacitors on the board. Here is a link to a guide showing what to look for on the motherboard to determine if your problem is capacitor related or not.

http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/dell-optiplex-745-repair/

If you do find bulging capacitors on the motherboard then more than likely that will be your problem. You can replace the capacitors and your board will be as good as new.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Hi, just swaped out a harddrive now my Mainboard *4 core Duel Sata2* does a single beep, pause then rapid beeps. can you help

Please count the number of rapid beeps. 3 short beeps is a memory error. 8 short beeps is a display memory error. 9 short beeps is a ROM Bios checksum error and 10 beeps is a CMOS shut down read/write error.

The solution will depend on the error. For a memory error, remove all of the memory sticks then reinsert each one separately and reboot the computer. If the board continues to beep 3 times, that stick is bad or the memory slot has failed.

The complete beep code list is provided here: http://www.asrock.com/support/qa/TSDQA-01.pdf .

I hope this helps.

My dell optiplex 745 keeps ging me a n orange flashlight when i press the power button what should i do?

Does it also have a low-pitched beeping sound? This motherboard will not boot if the memory is missing or bad.

If you only have one memory stick, then you can try removing it and reseating it, but of course if it's bad then you're not going to fix anything by reseating.

If you have more than one stick, you can try removing one. If that doesn't work, put it back in and remove the other.

I have a dell smart step 100 d its constantly rebooting

Hello.

Even though you said that you changed every piece of hardware, just for good measure I wanted to tell you that there are three reasons that a computer reboots itself: 1. Memory, 2. Power supply 3. Operating system problem, such as malware.

Hope that helps, although you may have done the above.

My cpu dont see new hdd wd5000avvs ,motherboard Asus P5LD2 SE. i trying omost everything. help;/

are you using ide or sata connection? if your using sata conection between your motherboard and harddrive, you must enable it in your bios, just reboot your pc and keep pressing F2 while its booting to prompt your bios. There you can look for IDE/SATA configuration. After enabling your sata, save any changes before you exit and reboot... Just give it a try...

Dell 2400 ram upgrade problem

RAM can be finicky so first test all memory slots with a known good stick (your 512MB). Make sure you're starting from a complete power down and you get a POST beep (hopefully your system is set up to beep when it powers on) and everything loads up all the way through to your OS.

Once you do that with all your memory slots test with the new stick by itself in all memory slots. If neither of the memory slots work with the new stick but you verify that it works in another system you should then check your BIOS settings and RAM timings to ensure compatibility with your stick. If you can't find the timing on the RAM stick itself, look up the manufacturer's part number for the information.

Good luck!
