The symbol you mean is for indicate that the printer is ready. If you can print from ex notebook, you are having problem with your paycheck application program. If you can't even print a testpage from PC.
Check your printerdriver, is the printer offline?
Networking? Press gobutton on printer until ready and attentionlight blinking, release gobutton and the printer will print a config page. Then on PC, go to Control panel, rightclick on Printer icon, choose properties, choose Ports, check for HP standard TCP/IP port, click configure. Is the IP adress for port the same as the one given on the configpage. If not replace it with the one given on configpage.
But, if the configpage says the IP is configuring. turn off printer, disconnect network cable. Press and hold gobutton, turn on powerswitch, when ready and attention lights lid, release gobutton. Printer will reboot to ready. Reconnect network cable. wait 5 min print a configpage and check if you got IP.
Having USB, Just uninstall and reinstall printer.
Hope this will help, otherwise let me know. I'm expert on this printer

What do symbols on top mean?

Welcome to Fixya

Half circle symbol means printer is in ready state. The printer control panel is comprised of six lights and two buttons. The lights produce patterns that identify the printer status.

1 Jam light: Indicates that there is a jam in the printer.
2 Toner light: When the print cartridge is low, the Toner light illuminates. When the print cartridge is out of the printer,
the Toner light blinks.
3 Paper out light: Indicates that the printer is out of paper.
4 Attention light: Indicates that the print-cartridge door is open or other errors exist.
5 Ready light: Indicates that the printer is ready to print.
6 Go button and light: Initiates action or indicates status.
7 Cancel button: To cancel the print job that is currently printing, press the Cancel button.

Not printing..

The symbol on top that looks like a beaker full of marbles is the symbol for the toner cartridge (notice the same symbol is found on the button that opens the toner cartridge door). If this light is on, either the toner cartridge is getting low, or the cartridge needs replaced.

Print from MS Word 03 & e-mail to P2015dn trouble

Hello,

This could be due to incorrect paper size. We have letter as default paper size in the driver, however, A4 paper size into the application.

Please try the latest drivers (Universal Printing Driver) from www.hp.com/support/ljp2015
