The freezer in my mini fridge started making a hissing sound today something stabbed the bottom of it whats going on is it safe to use ?

Hello,

From what you are saying the evaporator got punctured. The hissing was the freon coming out of the unit. The unit will not cool even if it was plugged in.

IF YOU PUNCTURED THE FREON LINE WOULD IT MAKE A NOISE

Normally you would hear a hissing noise like a gas leaking. If you were smoking it would smell kinda nice before the phosgene gas killed you. Freon turns into phosgene when near a heat source.

I punctured a hole in the freezer part will it still work?

UUUUUUUgh....not sure....
if you punctured the part that has the freon zig zagging through it and allowed the freon gas to escape then...nope...it will no longer work and it may cost quite a bit to get it repaired.....but...if you are lucky you may have only punctured the covering and not got into the part with the freon...turn it on and see how lucky you are.

SMALL OUTDOOR BEER REFRIGERATOR DOOR LEFT OPEN OVERNIGHT IT STARTED DEFROSOTNG AND THEN ACTED LIKE IT BULIT UP PRESSURE AND BLEW OUT AIR OR REFRIGERANT AND DOES NOT COOL ANYMORE

Hi, absolutely there's refrigerant (freon) leak check your condenser and evap. for rupture (broken lines) also check for oil, presence of oil means, refrigerant (freon) leak, plug ref, and listen, for hissing sound inside and outside of ref. try to locate leak, or call mechanic, repair leak, change filter drier and recharge, if your evap punctured, you should immediately disconnect ref, and dry all water from evap, prevent water from entering system, could damage compressor, or if water get into compressor, you will have to change compressor oil. yes, you surely have a refrigerant (freon) leak.good luck.

Electrical noise

If the noise from the compressor sounds like a humming followed by a click, the compressor is "short cycling". Could be either the compressor relay or the compressor itself is bad. Not sure on the hissing noise. Could be just a loose panel that needs to be tightened or adjusted.

Punctured freezer

You should contact a local welding shop to fix the leak. The tubing is made from aluminum and can be hard to solder for someone who doesn't do it all the time. After that you need an appliance repairman to pit more freon in it. I guess the question is...how old is your freezer? More than 6 years old? Anything older than that, you may just want to get a new one.

Sylvania Fridge Problem

This may be the refrigerator itself making that hissing noise, which is not uncommon.
Please provide the make and model number for the unit.

Sanyo sr-3620w Poked sensor under freezer tray...hissing sound

More than likely you let the refrigerant out. Is there an oily residue? If so you definitely punctured the evaporator. It's time consuming and expensive to properly repair a standard refrigerator sealed system and maintain the chemical stabilty that will prevent future problems. But with those tiny units priced as they are, it's always cheaper to replace them.

There is gas leaking from our fridge freezer

You punctured the coolant line. It will definitely need to be serviced ASAP. I would advise against using it and it should probably be unplugged (it's not going to work now, anyway...).
