Try to move the carriage manually..it works most of the time....if still does not work...replace the printer.

Moving the carriage manually worked. Use your left hand and get a firm grip on the carriage and pull the carriage an inch or two out of it's little den, over the hump, then don't do anything, mine adjusted itself for 10 or 15 seconds and then it worked fine.

If you lift the lid to get access to the cartridges, there should be a diagram showing you how to unjam the carriage. I have a 564, & it has that feature.

Carriage Jam Error on HP Printer

There is nothing much to do if you get a Carriage Jam error. We can give a try to solve it ( Usually carriage jam error results in Hardware failure )

Follow the instructions below to resolve Carriage Jam issue.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the rear access door ( or duplexer )
  3. Check for any bits of paper stuck, if so, remove them.
  4. Open the front access door where you see the cartridges. Check for any paper pieces, if so, remove them.
  5. Move the carriage manually 5-6 times from left to right. The carriage should move freely. ( Do not apply force )
  6. If the Carriage does not move freely, try to remove the cartridges and close the rear and front access door.
  7. Power on the printer and it will prompt you for missing cartridges.
  8. Install the Cartridges. If it does not prompt you for cartridges missing, you will find Carriage Jam Error on the screen
  9. This indicates the printer is faulty and needs repair

In any condition if you are not able to fix the issue, Contact HP ( 1-800-474-6836 ) If the printer is In-Warranty please contact HP for replacement. HP may charge for repair for Out of Warranty printer

I just changed the (2) ink cartridges in my HP PCS 1610 All-in-One HP printer and now get an error message "CARRIAGE JAM - OPEN DOOR. CLEAR CARRIAGE JAM, AND THEN PRESS OK." I don't see any jam...

Have you tried moving the carriage to see if it really is jammed? Maybe you haven't put the levers down properly on your new cartridges....remove them, see if the carriage slides, then refit them and check the carriage again. You wont visually 'see' a carriage jam,; you have to try moving it. By the way, if it doesn't move, DONT force it to try and overcome the jam try and reason out why it doesn't move.
Hope this helps!

HP PSC2355 printer pulls paper in crooked and then jams

One or more of the paper rollers needs cleaning or replacing. Or is not turning. Make sure you have the paper guide set not too tight or loose. Try with smaller paper eg A5 to see if it still twists, and put the paper in at various places (right to left) to see where and if it is jamming...

Carriage jam

Usually when the printer displays a carriage jam error the carriage assembly is jamming along the carrige path.
There may be something in the carriage path or the carriage shaft may need lubricating.
Check the area where the carriage is has stoped. There might be an obstruction visible.
