Try to move the carriage manually..it works most of the time....if still does not work...replace the printer.

Moving the carriage manually worked. Use your left hand and get a firm grip on the carriage and pull the carriage an inch or two out of it's little den, over the hump, then don't do anything, mine adjusted itself for 10 or 15 seconds and then it worked fine.
