Question about Lexmark X4270 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Won't print with refilled cartridges

I have refilled both color and b/w cartridges, cleaned heads and contacts and properly replaced in the unit. It will not print at all. It goes through the motions but no ink on page. Is there a way to reset the counter or whatever? It still thinks the ink is low.
Thanks, Gary

Color cartridge is not printing in color

Hi, According to your problem first check and make sure that the color cartridges are not blank and also make sure that the cartridges are moving properly. First clean the cartridge head and align them. Check the printer settings also. some time it may happens after two or three times refilling. in that case you have to replace the cartridges. IF the before job doesn't solve your problem then replace the cartridges.

  2. Wait for the print cartridge alignment process to fully complete.
  3. Make sure that the alignment page has printed on plain, white paper that has no other printing on it. If you need to create a new alignment page, load the tray with letter or A4 unused plain white paper and turn the product off and on again to create the page.
If an alignment page does not print when the product is turned on or off, the issue is resolved. Cyan ink worked until needed to replace that empty cartridge. Now, all colors print but Cyan. I have cleaned inks, blocked eye with tape, cleaned where cartridge goes with warm water (in those holes),...

First do not use cartrigde compatible or refill because you clogged the print head,is verry sensitive. If you try to clean the print head and nothing you need to replace the print head is the only solution, after replace the print head you print all the colors.

NOTE!!! After you replace the print head use only original cartridge brother !!!!

Cartridge error 1203

First of all, please verify each cartridge carrier has an ink cartridge :
  1. Check to make sure the left cartridge carrier contains a black or photo ink cartridge.
  2. Check to make sure the right carrier contains a color ink cartridge.
  3. Remove each cartridge and examine it to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the contacts and the print head.
  4. Replace each cartridge in the proper carrier.
Step 2 :

Wicking the cartridges and cleaning the contacts on the back of the cartridge should be performed if the nozzle clean was performed and the quality was not satisfactory.
Wicking the Cartridge
  1. Ensure the printer is powered on.
  2. Lift the scanner unit.
  3. Open the cartridge latches and remove the cartridges from the carrier (Figure 1).
  4. cartout922%281%29.jpg

  5. Take a clean, damp cloth and wipe the nozzle of the print cartridge from front to back (Figure 2).
  6. printer1.jpg
    Figure 2: Proper Cleaning Direction
new_note.jpg Note: Never wipe the cartridges from side to side, as this causes cross-contamination in color cartridges.
Cleaning the Contacts
  1. Turn the cartridge so that you are looking at the contacts on the back side of the cartridge (Figure 3).
  2. cartridge_back_contacts.jpg
Figure 3: Turning the Cartridge To View the Back Contacts
  3. Using a clean dry cloth, wipe the contacts in the direction shown (Figure 4), so that no dust or other contaminants are visible.
  4. new_note.jpg Note: Do not use the same cloth that was used to clean the cartridge nozzles. This may cause more contamination on the cartridge.

Figure 4: Cleaning the Contacts on the Back of the Cartridge
  5. Clean the contact inside the printer with the dry cloth used to clean the cartridge contacts.
  6. Replace the cartridges in the carrier and close the scanner unit.
  7. Print the document again.
  8. If the print quality does not improve, repeat the steps for cleaning the nozzles and contacts up to two more times as needed.

I had my cartriges refilled and now its not printing correctly. actually printing in all yellow. I've tried cleaning the heads and turning off printer to rest. I've tried to align and clean printer heads....

Unfortunately in my opinion your cartridge has been compromised. Hopefully you did not pay for this service. You should replace that cartridge immediately. When it comes to cartridge "refilling" if you are not going to "do it yourself" don't even let someone else do the deed even for "FREE"

HP Deskjet F4180 Color changes and lines in photo printing

HP always recommend that ink cartridge should be replace by original ink.

As this kind of scenario will occur if the ink will just be replace by a refill ink.

Black catridge printing is not working

Hi Aravind,

Are you using a refill cartridge? It would be best to allign after installing the cartridges?

Since most cartridges today have electronic contacts on them, if you dirtied them before installing the cartridge, it is possible that this could affect the performance, you might want to take the cartridge out and clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol.

Also, the alignment of the print heads may need to be adjusted, my hp requires this to make sure the color and black line up properly, otherwise you get a blurry image.

Furthermore, if the problem is with the color cartridge and you are trying to print a page of black letters and the printer is set to use colors, it may try to print the black using all of the colors instead of using the black cartridge. So you may need to clean the color cartridge as well. Try looking at the printing properties and making sure black is selected when printing something that is only text and see if it does it correctly then.
Good Luck!
