If there is power to the unit (lights turn on) I would check the fuses and switches especially the one for door lock mechanism if you noticed a glitch. But a lot of times if you experiences problems after running a self-cleaning function, including locked door issue, the solution could be as simple as resetting a switch and no actual replacement parts needed. It all depends. If you are in Los Angeles, we could send a Viking repairman the same day you call us. : Viking Appliance Repair

Takes forever for my oven to preheat to 400*. 25 minutes or so. Oven is brand new.

A brand new oven should work. You should not tinker with a brand new oven. A brand new oven that is malfunctioning is probably under warranty and should be repaired under that warranty.

Viking is the Rolls Royce of kitchen equipment. Call your installer or builder or Viking for service for your brand new oven.

Fan stays on long after oven is shut off in brand new viking daul fuel range. It's been on now for 45 minutes. All controls are on OFF.

loads of ovens do this. It's a pain, especially if you eat in the kitchen. If you switch the appliance off and on at the wall it usually stops it. Why the fan stays on, god knows. pointless.

While using stovetop had turn oven on for a few minutes heard a pop and smoke from back of stove. fuse blown?

Hi,

It's unlikely to be a fuse. Those are the classic signs of the heating element burning out, in which case you will need a new element. Burnt out elements can't be repaired. If the fan still runs but the oven doesn't heat up, it's your element.

New rayburn 400 kpf : a horrible toxic smoke appears from the oven and continues to do so while it is firing

the KPF stands for kerosene power flue. the power flue is an electric fan in the flue that sucks the gasses out. it sounds like this fan is not running so the gasses are comeing out of the oven vent
check the fan has power running to it

Viking oven

We had a hurricane come through and power was out at our house for 2 weeks. The top burners worked but the oven would not. Our outside gas grill worked perfectly also using the utility provided natural gas. We were told by Viking that the oven is designed to work only when there is electric power. This is a safety feature, according to Viking.

Jenn air 88370

I have a similar Jenn Air oven approximate date 1982. It has a catalytic liner (colored a kind of dark charcoal  with paler flecks), so it is a continuous clean oven during normal cooking.  However, it also has the Accel Clean setting on the control knob. This increases the oven temperature to maximum and also runs the convection fan to burn off cooking residues. This allows the catalytic lining work at high efficiency, and burn off stubborn residues that are not removed at normal cooking temperature. The oven may emit smoke through the top door vents as the food residues burn off, so watch that you do not set off your smoke detector. I switch on the cooker hood fan and also put a fan in the kitchen window (blowing air out of the kitchen), to avoid setting off my kitchen smoke detector if I use Accel Clean.
