Screeching noise from eng? dry bearing? Brass(?) dust in oil?

12 HP Sumec eng. Made noise when new out of box. Thought was gen at 1st, now think its eng. Has about 5 tanks of gas thru it. Seems to run OK, really loud dry bearging - like noise comes and goes a little but is there most the time. CKed oil = lot of suspended metal in it. Looks brass colored.

any parts available? Have not tore eng down, if can't get parts may as well run till flies apart?
Surely crank bearings are oil bath? What is in there that may sound like dry bearing?
Thanks for any help, insight,

Sure sounded like it! Wasn't any good the way it was so I tore it down to find out what could possibly be making noise like a bad alternator bearing. Ruled out the generator bearings. There is a balance shaft with 6202 bearings in the eng! Junk bearings from git go, or bad lube problem? I tried to improve by drilling passage to rear of bearing, (splash system) looked like it shouldn't weaken casting but provide more lube. Sounds normal now. We'll see if it lasts. Maybe the bearing was damaged when installed. Inexperianced or careless worker. As we repair alt & starters, we had bearings on hand, removed seals and grease and away we go!

    Thanks for your reply.

Hi

I think there is an engine problem.Disassembly entire engine and check all the parts inside(the cilinder, the crankshaft, the piston, the conecting rod,the piston rings, the camshaft(pay attention to the timing points at the gears),the oil pump, the gaskets and so on.

My Hp envy cooling fan always on and makes noise, i clean the vent but still

Fans usually wind up pretty high and slow down once the OS has loaded. The fan itself may be filled with dust and/or have a dry bearing. Well, if you're comfortable with taking apart your laptop,, usually keyboard off first, you might be able to see the fan or at least part of it. This is where an old toothbrush or your wifes soft long bristled old makeup brush will come in handy to gently clean between the blades of the fan. Get it as clean as possible, put your keyboard back on and test it. If it still makes noise, then its probably a dry bearing in which case you'll have lots more to take apart to completely remove the fan. you might be able to get some light sewing machine oil to the bearing and try it again. Otherwise, go to a computer repair shop for a new one but, they rarely ever go bad. Just get REALLY dirty. And don't forget to clean on the inside of the fins too with that toothbrush.

Engine seized up

Chances are pretty good that you either spun a rod bearing or broke a connecting rod. Either way you are probably looking at a costly repair.

Loud screeching noise coming from the unit.

A screeching or squealing noise usually comes from the fan motor. There may be an oil port and you can buy a small telescoping oil bottle at a super hardware store or an a/c supply house. Before putting in he oil, remember to TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE UNIT and only use a light squeeze on the bottle - over oiling will cause a mess inside the motor. It may be a sealed motor and no oil ports. In either case, budget for a new motor as if it's to the squealing stage, the bearings are already damaged and it's a just matter of time before before the motor bearings fail. If possible, get oil on the bearings ASAP - and use the proper lightweight oil for made for this application.

Valve spring broke

Not sure but I think someone told me it is a knock off of the Honda? If so maybe try comparing? Ck size, Spring tension & etc?
I know not much help but that's where I'd start. Been told by a local small eng shop there aren't internal parts available for the Sumec engines.

ED55 dryer making screeching noises

sounds like the rear tub bearing has worn out that would explain the noise and if it got too bad the bearing can break causing the drum to stick and not be able to turn
