I am only getting the 1 screen when I boot into vga mode. Otherwise that 1 screen is completely blank and the other 3 have the card bios info.

  • SungardPaul Nov 25, 2008

Yes, these cards are fairly old. For some reason, the primary screen loses video with "Source:Absent" when I boot normally. I am using the correct driver, I think, at the instructed resolution.

The card is a Colorgraphic Twin Tuna and I am working with Windows 2000 Professional. It was working until I had to rebuild the O/S.

Hi,
In windows, you need to enable and extend your desktop into the extra outputs, you can do this in your display properties pages.

Does windows detect the extra displays? correct drivers installed? The screens should stay black after boot, possibly theres a corruption in the vga bios or other hardware failure.. arent these cards old? so its possible.

  • Ekse Nov 25, 2008

whats the brand and model of the card, also which version of windows are you using?

What is the video memory of a Compaq Presario SR5712F PC Desktop

Description---- Problems with video cards show up as intermittent system lockups when playing 3D games, small dots of color spattered across the Window desktop, the inability to run certain 3D games, and the inability to open Windows normally. All of these issues can occur because of video hardware or driver problems. Find an item below that matches your video need: For integrated video memory that is adjustable, use the following steps to change the amount of video memory (RAM) from the PC BIOS Setup:
  1. Turn on the PC.
  2. When the blue HP screen appears, press the F1 key. Entering Setup should appear on the screen.
  3. When BIOS Setup screen appears, use the RIGHT ARROW key to select the Advanced screen.
  4. Use the down Arrow key to select the video memory setting; for example; VGA RAM Size, integrated video, or On-Board Video Memory.
  5. Press the Enter key.
  6. Use the down Arrow key to select the desired amount of memory or memory setting that is listed and then press the Enter key. CAUTION: Do not select a DISABLED setting without a video card installed! Doing so can cause the monitor to go black until a video card is added or the BIOS is reset.
  7. Press the F10 key, and then press Enter to save changes and exit. The PC is set to use the new video memory setting.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya!

· First troubleshooting - When you turn the laptop on, are you able to see the splash screen? This would be the computer manufacturer's screen display that usually shows a picture but may also be text and usually appears right before the Windows logo screen. If the answer is yes, then more than likely, the operating system is corrupt. This can be caused by several things including viruses, power surges or hardware failure. If your computer hits the windows screen and reboots back into a loop, this is also signs of Windows being corrupt.

Solution - Take the hard drive out of the laptop and slave it to another working desktop computer to retrieve your data. You may need a special cable for this because the laptop hard drive is smaller than the cable in a desktop. This process can be done, taking precaution that both computers are off while slaving the hard drive. After you attach the hard drive, turn the desktop on, it will read it like another drive and you will be able to pull all of your information from it. You only want to grab the user files, not other data and run a scan to rid of viruses. Then attach the hard drive back on and reformat it.

· Second troubleshooting - If you hear the operating system chime but do not see a picture and all the lights are on, then this would indicate that the back light on the screen is out. You can test this simply by hooking the laptop up to a monitor and see if you get a picture. If the computer screen shows on the monitor, then your back-light is out. If it doesn't show up then your video graphics card is out.

Solution - If the back light is out, it is easier to order a new screen (new or used) from eBay and just switch out (simple process and you can find a replacement for under 50 dollars on eBay). If it is the video graphics card, then you can also purchase one from eBay and switch out (a little tougher because you have to take the top of the laptop off). You can get assistance with this from the manufacturers website (service manual) and pull specs for free.

· Third troubleshooting - To test the battery, take the battery out of the laptop and turn on with just the adaptor. If it boots, then the battery will need to be replaced. There is no way of testing the power adaptor but 85% of the time, this is the problem. Even if lights come on, the adaptor sometimes gets so overheated that it silently goes out but gives just enough power to make the lights come on. The power adaptor can be found on eBay for under 20 dollars and is cheap enough to replace (first) to make sure that is not the problem. The battery can also be found on eBay for under 60 dollars.

· Fourth troubleshooting - If you do not hear any beeps and the above solutions did not work. Then your motherboard has failed. This can be caused by surges or dust. You can purchase a replacement from eBay for a fraction of the cost and replace (this is tough and I am not sure if they have specs for this). You can do it yourself, just be sure and put everything back together as it was.

Acer Aspire One continuous beeping at power on, until Windows screen comes on

Need to check the BIOS beep codes but I'm fairly sure that continuous beeping on boot is a display adaptor card issue. If you don't see anything on the screen until that point it may be something is set wrongly for the display within BIOS and it can't sort it out until Windows takes control of the system.

When the system is booting up press F2 or whatever the prompt screen prompts you to press to get into the system bios. From the system bios find the AGP graphics adaptor the turn it on. Save you settings upon exit and your internal card should now function. You may have to reset you screen properties in windows to get the correct screen and resolution.

How to setup network adaptor

Hi there,

Technically you should provide 'IP Address" to your network card. Generally IP address is provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) provider you are using.

Once you get the ip address you can configure it by right clicking on the my network>properties>TCP/IP setting.

This will work.

Video Card not recognized on PCV-RS410

Hi, have you check the status of the video card in the window device manager.
1. Right clicking My Computer icon on your desktop
2. Select Manage option from menu
3. Select Device Manager
Please verify if there is any yellow color exclamation appears on the left side of your new video card adaptor. If so you need to install a driver. I am assuming your pc is running window xp and video card adaptor is window xp compatible.
Hope this help.
