Question about Amana ACF4265 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Amana over I have an AMANA ACF4265AB electric oven/range. Bake element failed, while replacing it I accidentally caused a surge (forgot to unplug). I have replaced the element, the high-temp limit switch, and the temp probe. The oven will reach the set temperature but then will drop out, also I'm not sure the bottom element is working properly. Any suggestions, need to save Thanksgiving having 25 people over!!

As far as the elementy working, if it glows red, its working. if the unit is preheating within 12-15 min, id say the elements are fine. as far as not maintaining temp, thats strange, if the elemnt turns on the control is sendinding power, and its shuttin off so its stopping power, sounds as if a relay is geting stuck on the control board, strange thngs happen when you short things out like that.

First check the temperature probe if that checks out good the problem is the bake element is failing. Here is a couple links on checking and replacing these parts

When set to bake oven does not preheat and tempature does not increase. when set to broil oven heats

Since your oven has a separate element for bake and broil I would bet the bake element is burnt out or burnt electrical connection to the element. Make sure you disconnect all power to the range before checking.

HEATS UP BUT TAKES 2 TIMES LONGER TO BAKE, tried cookies and cake, had to keep putting back in for longer. Did not burn, but had a weird consistency. Looked at baking coil, 'looks' fine and does get...

your bake element should get red during the preheat time and also if you leave the door open after it has preheated.
if it is not that will cause your oven to not heat right.
even if it looks ok, it could still be bad.
unplug the oven and remove the bake element, then take it to your local parts house and they can check it for you.
this is the most common problem, but it could be a problem with your oven control. try the element first.

HOW TO REPACE OVEN BAKE ELEMENT

The following link explains how to replace a bake element in most electric ranges:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r469407-replacing_bake_or_broil_element_in

If the model number you have this question listed under is correct, the part number for a replacement element is 74010750. It can be purchased on line at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop around for the best price.

This is a very simple repair. Just remember to UNPLUG the range before servicing. Dangerous voltage is still present, even with the range turned off. If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Amana Range, AER5515QAW

could be a bad bake element, bad temperature sensor, or control board problem

what does the oven readout display for temperature? if the readout agrees with the actual oven temperature ... it is probably the element

if the oven readout displays a much higher temperature it may be the temperature sensor (the probe in the oven cavity) or the control board

the temperature sensor can be tested by measuring its resistance with power off and unplugged from the control board, should be about 1100 ohms at 75F

If the sensor is good, then it is probably the control board ... in which case we can repair it for you at www.fixyourboard.com

Amana electric oven won't get above 225 degrees. Takes over an hour to get to this temp.

sounds like only the broiler is working which comes on low during bake cycle. unplug or turn off breaker, remove bake element and check for continuity or take to someone who can.

Bottom element on range doesn't work

we can check a few things, first off you need to confirm 220v. to unit itself, ill assume you do, the top elements are working correctly.. sounds like a bad electronic control, what youll need to check is on the control itself, there is a wire labeled L1, then there will be a bake terminal, ill also assume L1 has 110v, other\wise the clock wouldnt be liting up, but if you carefully unplug the bake terminal and test terminal for power( it will have 110v, after you select bake andstart oven.

Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.
