This modem's remote router has a seperate firewall of it's own so what you'll have to do is; go to the to server site @ http//:192.168.100.1 then hit enter. you will go the the Login Site and you login and can reset or retrieve your WEP key.

SBG900 wireless association failed when we ran the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility. It connects via Ethernet but the wireless will not connect. Says it has "Limited or no Connectivity."

Do you get an error that says something such as "Unable to validate identity"? You can definitely fix this issue by logging into the modem and changing the security to WEP. If not WEP you can try no security. I know that no security will work but its trial and error to find out which security type will work with the Dell wireless.

How do i secure it

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
For belkin router http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

How do I make a secure wireless network

If you don't have the manual, you can download it here.

Look at the chapter "Setting Up Your Wireless LAN" (page 64).

Then follow the guide for "Configuring WPA on the SBG900" (page 66).
Try to avoid WEP, since it is easily hackable and only gives the sense of false security. As encryption, choose WPA AES, because it is more secure than TKIP. WPA Authentication should be "local", since you don't want to run a dedicated server.

Some older laptops cannot deal with WPA-AES. In that case you have to fall back to WEP, but try WPA first.

Furthermore you should change the ESSID from "Motorola" to something more specific for you, so other clients don't connect accidentally to your network (page 71).

If you want to enable MAC filtering is up to you and only makes sense if you never have friends or colleagues coming over with a laptop. I would leave it off and enable it at a later point, after you see that everything is running fine.

Don't forget to set up your computers as well! You have to provide the passphrase for them, otherwise they can't connect (see page 75). The way I do it is to create a strong (!) passphrase like "V0y6Mmb90y...", copy it into a text document (use notepad), and save it on a USB stick. form there you can copy it to the field, when Windows (or Mac) asks for the network key.
No typos = no headaches.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

I cant find my wep key for my motorola sbg900 and i need it to get online for my ps3. how do i find it?

Usually to do this, you need to connect to the router with a computer and an ethernet cable.

Start the browser and enter the following:

http://192.168.100.1 or http://192.168.0.1

This should bring you to a configuration screen of the router. Next, go to the configuration tab and head out for the wireless configuration and then the security configuration. In there you should find the location where the WEP keys are stored.

if you can't get connected, yu can look for more help in the manual of the device.

You can download it here:

Can't connect to the internet wirelessly

Well, to avoid confusion, I'd start by doing a factory reset. Insert the straightened end of a paperclip into the reset hole and power up the device to do this. From there, the device should begin broadcasting the default wireless network with the name (SSID) of "Motorola." The DHCP server should also be enabled and if your computer is configured to receive an automatically assigned IP address your wireless network interface should pick up an IP. The security for the "Motorola" network is disabled by default.

Basic troubleshooting from there would be to try to see if you can connect your wireless computer to another wireless network that is know to be working well. Either buy and return another wireless access point or router from a retailer or head to a Starbucks or other establishment that offers free wireless. If the wireless computer is hooking up nicely with the secondary wireless network, you can refocus on the SBG900 as the likely source of the problem.

If after attempting the aforementioned procedures you find that the wireless computer continues to fail to connect to the SBG900 you might have to consider that you have a faulty device. At that point I would consider consulting the manufacturer's documentation.
