Question about Acer Aspire T120 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Cant get into windows at all

I have an acer aspire T120E-8830 and everytime i load it up it asks if i want to open in safe mode, safemode with networking, safemode with command prompt, start windos normally or use the last good configuration

however when i choose any of the safemode options it throws up a long list still with a black screen and each line starts with something like MULTI DISK PARTITION and each line lists different filepaths

when i try using the last good configuration it loads up and begins a disk check once the check is complete it locks up and freezes on that screen (ive left it for 12 hours and its still stuck on that screen)

if i try to start windows normally it loads up, no disk check but goes thru to a blank black screen and locks up there

anything i can do to get this computer back in working order?

You might try turning your floppy drive off if you have one.

Acer L100 will only start in safemode when I press the F8 key, switches off if I try normal mode

Check your documentation; that may be a safeguard because there is a problem or corruption in Windows, so it auto-starts in safe mode so that you can troubleshoot. I am just guessing. Safe mode loads only the bare essential drivers to get Windows running, all peripherals are blocked because one of them is crashing Windows. I am just guessing, so check your manual that came with the computer. What you can do is a system restore to an earlier date; hopefully that will take care of it.

Acer Aspire 5520G and Nvidia 8400M G. I have tried to install newest drivers from Nvidia official page, but after restarting my windows 8 freezes at home screen.

Booting Into Safe Mode on Windows 8

The trick is to hold the Shift button and mash the F8 key, this will sometimes boot you into the new advanced "recovery mode", where you can choose to see advanced repair options.
image31.png
You will need to click on the Troubleshoot option.
image32.png
Now select Advanced Options.
image33.png
Now choose the Windows Startup Settings option, by the looks of things we were never meant to find Safe Mode.
image34.png
Finally hit the Restart button.

Like magic, when your PC reboots you will be able to boot into Safe Mode from the familiar looking Advanced Boot Options screen.

select safemode with networking

go to driver site NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 335 23 Driver WHQL
32 bit version

for the 64 bit
NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 335 23 Driver WHQL

install in safe mode hope that works

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. Try and start it in safe mode. Rebbot the computer and as soon as soon as the computer starts to boot hit F8 several times this should bring it up in safe mode. If you get the compputer up in safe mode try to restore to a different date.

Let me know if this helps

Acer aspire t135 pc desktop locks at splash screen

These are the steps that you need to take, and the instructions on how to do it:
1. Reboot into Safemode
2. Run a virus and spyware scanner
3. Defrag
4. Scandisk
5. Registry error repairing
6.Reboot into regular mode windows

Here is how to do it:
Reboot yor machine while holding the F8 key right as it boots back up. A menu will apear. Choose -->"start windows in safe mode with networking".
Windows will start in safe mode. Run an AVG virus scan, then run Defrag by exploring your computer, right click on C: drive, click PROPERTIES, then the TOOLS tab, click the "check now" button, and only checkmark the top box 'fix file system errors', then click ok, the computer will then tell you it will scan upon next reboot., Now click the DEFRAG NOW button. the choose defrag. After Defrag runs for about an hour and it is finished, restart the system. If is still won't run normally, go back into Safemode buy pressing F8 on reboot, then run a registry fixing program such as uniblue registrybooster, then reboot again. If it still won't run right, you may want to reinstall Windows and see if that works. If reinstalling windows doesn't fix it, it is usually a hardware problem.
PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND KEEP A COPY NEAR YOUR SYSTEM FOR FUTURE PROBLEMS. THIS SERIES OF STEPS CAN FIX MANY PROBLEMS
Good luck.
James.

I cant get my computer to fully boot up

This might happen if you install McAfee with applications running, or not restarting Windows, etc. I am not sure why you couldn't boot in Safemode, booting in safemode is exactly what you need to do to uninstall McAfee.

Can you say SPYWARE...make your pc get into the safe mode....
Open up the start menu search or run box, and type in msconfig and hit the enter key
Select the Boot tab, and then check the box for "Safe boot" and make sure the radio button below is set to "Minimal".
Once you hit the OK button you'll be asked if you want to Restart now or wait until later. Either way, the next boot will take you into safe mode.
Once you restart, you'll realize that you are in Safe Mode because it not only places that text in the four corners of the screen, but it even opens up the safe mode page from the help file in Vista.
Now you can work on getting rid of that spyware…
Once you are done fixing whatever you were working on, you'll probably want to turn safe mode off and go back to normal mode. Just open up msconfig the same way as above, and then on the Boot tab you'll uncheck the "Safe boot" checkbox.
So now you know, someone is peaking...
Hope this help you my friend, good luck, please leave rating, thank you kindly

PC freezes on boot-up

Try booting the thing in Safe Mode. Upon startup (after the Acer logo goes) press F8 several times. You will be offered a menu select Safe Mode (at the very top of the list). If the system reaches the desktop, you can repair your Windows. For the three fixes below you will need to go Start Menu>Run...
1) Write: fixmbr, and press ENTER.
2) Write: fixboot, and press ENTER.
3) Write: chkdsk, and press ENTER.
(The later will take several minutes, but you can read what stage it is doing).
