Have you considered that the disk may be faulty? This does happen from time to time, if other disks work in your drive and this disk is not picked up at all even if you check in 'My Computer' and nothing is displayed under your cdrom drive then the disk may be faulty.

Also if the game is written on a dvd disk and you are trying to play it using a cdrom drive and not a dvdrom drive then it will not work

The problem is when i playin games i only hearin the talk an i not hearing the effects of the game an when i install my adobe flash media encoder i only hearin the mic on the web site but the sound

First, try updating your audio drivers. Next update directx to the most recent version. If you still have no audio in game try checking out the sound settings in the game itself.
Let me know how that goes, and if it doesn't work let me know what type of sound card you have, which game you're having the problem with, and the operating system that you run. (Windows XP, Vista, Linux etc.)

Buffer Override Detected

Try starting in safe mode and restore your PC to a date when it was working properly. Then increase the page files allotting it to all partitions, such that its now 3 times that what it was. These page files will be used from your HDD as if it were an extension of RAM. This should prevent any buffer over-run problems that you are facing now....sodeep
PS also clean your C drive if junk files, cookies & stored internet pages(History), defragment your HDD to improve performance.

Trying to install new game. noticed that the box says nothing about windows vista does that mean this wont work on my computer?

HI-

Yes, chances are you can't install it on a windows vista Operating system, suggesting to check website of the game and look for updates if there are any that will make it run with vista. look for a patch or update for it.

Hope this helps

We have a windows vista computer and a game which we havent installed yet because we were wondering if it might damage the game or computer because on the minimum requirments it says that the computer must...

the worst that could happen is that the computer may not run the program. try installing the game, your cd (assuming that's the source of the setup files for the game) should not be affected.

after you install the program try to run it as usual by double clicking the icon to run the program if it doesn't run as expected try this.
1. right click the icon you use to run the game.
2. select properties
3. select the compatibility tab and select an appropiate mode. (ex. windows xp service pack 2)

not completely sure but you may also want to try to run the installation/setup program by changing the compatibility mode so you may be able to trick the program into believing the app/game is being installed on a windows xp service pack 2 system increasing your chances to have the installation running properly.

I bought a game and I cann't get it to run in my windows vista laptop. I tried the instructions in the game, but noyhing. Please help me.

Well, you need to explain what the game is, what console or PC it's meant to run on (Vista, I hope) and say what goes right and wrong installing or running it. You should probably go check out the tutorials on installing things for Windows Vista (and forums for the game you bought) before asking any questions as though something were broken.

When running most games in windows vista i get cant locate d3dx9.dll or d3dx9_32.dll error and cant load up any games

First check that you are running games in Administrator mode, or you always get similar problem.
If you run games as administrator and it still happens, then you need to reinstall direct x.
Download and install as administrator.
Check:

Download DirectX

Lego Island

Older programs will sometimes not work with Vista. This is likely the reason that Lego Island 2 (a 2001 game) will work a opposed to Lego Island (a 1997 game). There are a few things that you can try, though:
  1. Right click the 'play game' icon and select 'Properties'
  2. Click the 'Compatibility' tab at the top of the window
  3. Click the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' box and select Windows XP or Windows 98/Window ME (you can try another later if one doesn't work)
  4. Make sure that the 'Run this program as an administrator' box is selected.
  5. Click 'OK' and close the window
Give the icon the good ol' double click and see if she works. There's no guarantees that this will work with Vista since it is an older program, but this is where I would start.

I hope this helps!
