Question about Hitachi CP-X430 Multimedia Projector
We have two of these projectors, same model-same problem. The image from the projector turns purple after a while, and it happens on all inputs. Turning the power off, then back on, solves the issue most of the time, albeit temporarily. Perhaps some component in this model has exceeded it's lifespan? I'm curious to know if anyone else is having this problem as well.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

it sounds like the A/V reciever does not upconvert the component signal to HDMI. Not many do. The Marantz recievers will (SR6001, SR8001, etc..). Also bear in mind that HDMI cables are finicky and may require amplification over a few meters long.

My projector is not Hitachi but I had a similar problem. My manual suggested checking under "signal" to make sure that "auto" was "on". The thing is, there were two places where "signal" came up on the menu. I had to go under "set-up" to "signal" and then I was able to correct it by setting "auto" to "on". I hope this helps.

In your Menu options there is a subfolder where it either reads lamp or lamp timer.
Scroll down to it and hold down you right or left arrow key on the Projector for a couple of seconds.

There is a small tab on the lamp cover that should press into an "L" shaped slot on the lamp housing. This tab may break off, and not press into slot far enough to make the lamp dectection switch click. When the lamp heats up, the plastics expand and the detection switch opens. The projector quits as if no lamp is installed. The fix is to make an extension for the tab. I cut a small piece of sheet metal and crazy-glued it to what was left of the plasic tab.
