Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V2500 40 in. LCD HDTV

Periodic tv screen blackouts

I experience periodic screen blackouts on my one year old Sony LCD tv. The tv is connected by HDMI cable to a cable box with built in DVR.
The blackouts only last a second or two and are very intermittent. I have gone several weeks without experiencing any, and have had some nights where I experience several within a 5-10 minute period. I have changed cable boxes, changed HDMI cables, and switched to the second HDMI input on the back of the tv. I have never experienced the problem when viewing a DVD. Also when it happens while watching live tv if I immediately rewind the recorder and view the same program segment again the blackout does not occur.

Thank you. I just hooked up the tv to the component outputs and we'll see what happens. I hope you are right.

The problem is your cable box. I know you said you replaced it, but I work on TV's everyday and, sorry to say this but cable box HDMI outputs have serious issues, like no or intermittent sound and video. I have seen customers exchange their cable boxes 5 and 6 times and still have the problem. Your best bet is to use the component outputs of your cable box, visually you will not see a picture difference between component and HDMI when using a cable box. Your other solution is to get satellite; I have NEVER seen an HDMI issue with a satellite box

I have satellite box connected via HDMI cable to LG LCD TV and I hav esame problem. In 20-30minutes periods, screen blackouts for a second. I have replaced the satellite box and problem still occurs. I dont want to replace TV, TV is 1 year old, satellite too. Can more expensive HDMI cable solve the problem? Thanks

My Sony Bravia tv screen turns green on occassion when changing channels. You can still hear the sound on the channel but can't see the picture only a green screen. My tv is hooked to a digital cable box...

Hi there,
If you haven't done so already, check that the cable between your tv and digital cable box(probably HDMI) is secure at both ends. If it is, try a different cable and/or different port on your tv if you have more than one. If the issue is still there after you've tried these options it's most likely an issue with either the digital box or tv. I would contact manufacturer at this stage for advise and possible replacement of tv or box if they are under warranty.
Hope this helps.

Can record Sky programmes but not view live.

You must connect up the TV to the SKY box, via Audio Visual cables too, in order to watch, recorded programs. You need to hook, up, Component, HDMI, or Composite, You select it by an EXTERNAL channel.
Connect the cable running from the wall into the "In" port on the Sky Box HD receiver. This cable brings in the signal to your receiver. Make sure the cable is securely fastened to the receiver, otherwise you might experience image and audio issues.
Attach an HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the Sky Box HDTV receiver. The HDMI is a single cable that provides both HD audio and video signals.
Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into an available HDMI port on the HDTV.
Power on the HDTV and the Sky Box HDTV receiver. Press the "HDMI" button on the TV's remote control. This will display the cable contents of the HD receiver onto the television.

Screen is all Green

New cable box recently? If not, your cable provider has probably pushed a firmware update to your cable box. Green screens are very common with HDMI connection. From your symptom, I am going to take a guess that you are connected via HDMI. If so, switch to Component cables and your problem is solved. It's not the TVs fault... cable boxes seem to be the single largest problem child for HDMI compatibility. I hope this was of some assistance.

Sony kdl-40v5100 has handshake problem

1.This issue sounds as though the TV connection circuit has an issue.
2. You have changed the DVR and the HDMI cables and you still have an issue with the video (pink screen) indicates a video circuit issue ( improper voltage or current) at the video section of the circuit.
3. This will require some troubleshooting by a qualified tech.
4. To make sure, try connecting another properly working LCD TV to the cable box or DVR an check. If you get a picture and sound properly it is the TV.
5. Usually a cable box is QA'd (quality assured) by the company and will not be sent unless tested 1st

Picture sound blackout (blink) when cable box/receiver HDMI used

Onkyo service told me, the second timethat I called them, that there is a known HDMI handshake issue with Motorola and Atlanta Scientific cable boxes. The only solution, and it was a solution, is to connect the box through the HDMI 1 port ONLY. All the other (2,3,4) result in blinking/dropping of signal. I did this, changed the cable/satelilte setting to HDMI 1 and all is well.

Compatibility issue: Sony BDPS350 Blue-ray & Yamaha RX-V1700?

HDMI compatibility issues continue to plague the industry and this more than likely is the problem. There are a couple of ways around this. Some people insist on "hot rodding" the dvd and tv by hooking up directly to each other avoiding the receiver all togeether (I do this). But you lose functionality and it makes things more complicated for other family members. Your best bet is to use RGB and Digital audio cables. You won't notice any quality loss and there is a possibility it will look better.

Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!
