In my sony slimline ps2 there is a little problem. It reads certain discs easily [ like- jet li, smackdown vs. raw ] but could not read certain discs like dbz budokai tenkaichi 3 and mortral combat shaolin monks. It shows that there is a disc error but when I made it run on a different ps2, it ran easily. In budokai, it could not start. I have already got a lens check and clean up.
please post your suggestions and help me

I have the same disc read error as the other person at the bottom. I bought my PS3 the day before thanksgiving and last night it came up with disc read error. Since then I can not play any games for PS3 of brd's? So I two have a machine that cost me 500 dollars that no longer works??? Wow..only one month? Maybe Sony should go to the drawing board and make products like they used to? does anybody know how to fix it?

I have the same problem on my 40GB ps3 that a bought about a month ago. All of a sudden, while playing a game, the disc read error message popped up on the screen and I had to turn the ps3 off using the power switch. Since then I have been unable to play any types of disc on my ps3 (including brand new dvd and BD discs) as the disc reader won't even recognise the discs. So here I pay $500-600 for a game system that becomes useless in 4 weeks... gamestop's lame warranty (7days) will not cover anything. I am pretty upset about this problem and would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to fix it.

My playstation 2 keeps giving me a disk reader error and wont play any of my games. I have cleaned the lens with a dvd/cd/game console cleaner. Even used a can of air and my hoover on the lens are, and still, nothing works. I've tried going into systems configuration, and my browser for my memory-card. And that works, But it won't read my games!!
What is the problem, what can I do fix it, and if I can't fix it. Is it worth paying for it to be fixed? Or, should I just buy a new console?

Same problem. Called Sony and they recommended system restore and disable Media Server. But, why would this error come after several weeks of play, not right away? They also claimed warranty was void because we used disk cleaner to try to clean disk, as they recommended, but said it was not a Sony cleaner so invalidated warranty. I think this was the mistake of the first rep we got as the second rep said this was not true.
