Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
My console keeps coming with a disc read error. The problem is not a dirty lens or a damaged disc, it is obviously that the laser either needs realignment or the voltage is low(although I think they only had that problem on the larger models). However, I can't find any information anywhere about how to fix this. What do I need to do?
Did you manage to get your playstation fixed?Im having exactly the same problem.Mine is a slimline model can you help me with my problem please? thanks

Hello Johnny O, please contact the nearest Sony Service. The possibble cause can be the malfunction of the optical block. Best regards, Arpi

Replace the lens (if cleaning it with rubbing alchohol does not work). It is not expensive (try the 'bay) and there are plenty of guides on YouTube (video tutorials).
If you are under warranty, get a replacement console!

In PS2 slim series when inserting the dvd there are three locks that you will hear clicking when putting on the disc. When you closely observe it is basically a spring that locks. make sure that you put the disc in such a way that you hear the 3 springs locking to the dvd (in the centre) . I faced this issue
2 days back . I got the ps2 2 days back . This is what I figured out .

Actualy there is a big lense under the lense you see. on a slim line ps2 you take the small lense and lift it a little so you can get a cotten swab with a little rubbing alocohle in there and wipe the big lense gently there may be a little plastic shild blocking you just pull it off it will clip back in. on full size the same thing you just got to take the system apart to do so if you want to thank email at firstname.lastname@example.org
