Computer won't load past password screen

Before going on vacation my boyfriend put a system password on so no one else could get into the computer while he was in mexico since he took the laptop with. It hasn't worked since. It will load to the screen asking for the system or administrator password then we will try to put it in but nothing works. How do we bypass it or fix it?

    hiiiiiiii ther
    how r u ???
    plz make ur quastion more clear
    do u need to restart ur bios password ? cos i thought it's the admin. account {in the previous comment}
    so if it's about the BIOS ther is some methoed to do so

    1 useing something called back door bios password {Award backdoor BIOS password is eight spaces,01322222, 589589, 589721, 595595, 598598 , ALFAROME, ALLY, ALLy, aLLY, aLLy, aPAf, award, AWARD PW, AWARD SW, AWARD?SW, AWARD_PW, AWARD_SW, AWKWARD, awkward, BIOSTAR, CONCAT, CONDO, Condo, condo, d8on, djonet, HLT, J256, J262, j262, j322, j332, J64, KDD, LKWPETER, Lkwpeter, PINT, pint, SER, SKY_FOX, SYXZ, syxz, TTPTHA, ZAAAADA, ZAAADA, ZBAAACA, and ZJAAADC}

    what you see listed may not be the actual backdoor BIOS password, this BIOS password may simply have the same checksum as the real backdoor BIOS password

    2 resetting the bios password useing softwear {so u can use this softwear CmosPwd -- http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd }

    3 resetting the bios password useing hardwear { and that's simply by takeing off the motherbored battery for some time up to 30 mins }

    if u need any further assistance email me

    aymanlovemai@yahoo.com
    u take care and have fun
    salammmmmm {bye in arabic }

I have this same problem with a Dell e1505. You will not be able to clear it by taking out the CMOS battery. I have already tried that and it does not work because the password in this model is not stored in the CMOS but in a separate non-volotile chip. And you will not be able to do it by using software, because it never attempts to boot from any device until the password is entered. You cant use overloading the keyboard buffer. I have tried that and it just shuts it off it you over load the keyboard or mouse buffer. The only way to fix this one is with a back door pass word or on the hard ware level. And i have not figured out how to use either of these yet. So i am sorry i can't really give you a solution right now. I just thought i would save you the time of trying all these other suggestions, I already tried them on this model and it does not work. This is one of the tuffest ones to crack.

For portables, Dell has a department that can give you the generic password for the BIOS. The Dell techs will communicate to these people via chat. But they're just open 7am-7pm mon-fri.

Sounds like you got a bad update, you might be able to download an update from magellan, and put it on your sd card then load it that way to finish the update.

How do I get past theYour pc will restart in 2 days to finish installing important updatesIt won't let me enter my password to unlock the pc

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart.
This will set the boot order
If this fails you might try some of these
Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc

ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc)

AMI BIOS: (Del), (F1) or (F2)

AST, Advantage, Award, Tandon: - Ctrl + Alt + Esc

Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc)

This is a hard drive issue or windows have corrupt files, if you have the installation disc try and reload the operational system, if no change! have the hardware checked out at a computer repair store.

Upon powering on the system won't go past the boot

> problem with barebone system
> asks for a password in the Setup

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Look on the motherboard for three pins in a row, with a jumper between #1 and #2.
Move that jumper to connect #2 and #3. Count to ten.
Move that jumper back to #1 and #2.
The motherboard has been reset to its "factory" settings, i.e., NO password.
Connect the AC power.
Turn the computer on.
Press <DEL> to enter Setup.
It should NOT ask for a password.

Start computer up asks me for password then it shuts down what is going on? It won't stay on.

computer loads basic system files threw the bios (Basic input output system) When the user set's a bios password it will not load the windows environment or win loader files until the bios password is entered. if you see a black window asking for password your seeing a bios password prompt.
Manny people buy computers aftermarket or used and cannot get past this. best tip is open the tower and pop the bios battery out and reboot with it out. go to the bios setup window and disable security now, put the battery back in and you will not see the password prompt again. if physical access to inside of tower imposable then we stop here.
If the password is a windows login prompt you will have to login safe mode to disable the faulty driver causing the issue.

once windows loads go to start then run and type msconfig then press enter. you will see microsoft configuration window and will go to the services tab at the bottom put a check in hide all microsoft services, now uncheck all the ones left and make sure the checkmark is on before doing so. this is goingto allow windows to load normally without third party drivers and you can fix the problem by enableing them till it fails to boot again.

Ex boyfriend reset login password. cannot get

Hi,

Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt and hit the del key twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

Please post back if need anymore advice or this does not work.

Good luck.

Try to login in the Administrator account, press Ctrl+Alt+Del (2 or 3 times) in the welcome screen and you'll get a login square, in username name type Administrator and password leave it blank if it logins without a password go to control panel and create new accounts.

Laptop wont turn on properly

A vital component that windows requires to run is corrupted. To fix it, you need the OS disc

In Windows Vista, there is usually a second partion on the harddrive that you can load by pressing F8 (or F10 depending on your system) and selecting the repair your computer option (depending on your manufacturer, you might need to input a password, after that choose the repair your computer option or solve startup problems

In Windows XP load the disc and open the recovery manager.
